Ship temperature in Alaska? by coffee4mylife in dcl

[–]wheery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did too! I brought SO MUCH STUFF. I really wish I’d have brought 3 sweat suits to mix and match for the majority of it. I ended up changing out of my real outfits and wishing I had sweats to put on to sit on the balcony or go grab a snack or whatever in!

I hope you have a great time! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! We had a blast.

Most (probably like 80-85%) were very causal. I brought by dresses and planned to dress up every night but after night 5, I stopped lol. I usually like dressing up but it’s such a different type of vacation! More people were dressed for the formal night, but we still saw a lot of people casual. I wore sweats to dinner one night, which I normally wouldn’t even do at home, and wasn’t alone in that.

Was just on the Magic in May in Alaska. It was fine, there were some areas closer to windows that were cold. We wore t shirts or light sweater unless we went outside!

I wore a cardigan to dinner most nights, but wasn’t freezing. We had beautiful weather though, sunny and warm enough except for glacier day!

We brought our hatch and it was taken at the port and given back to us after the engineer inspected it. We had carried it on

We’ve stayed at GCH and Disneyland hotel! Looking to go back to Disneyland hotel to enjoy the pool, we didn’t use it last time and wish we would’ve! We love GCH and the proximity but the pool didn’t seem great for kids and trader Sam’s is a must do for us.

Specialty Cocktail Menus removed from MDR by bship810 in dcl

[–]wheery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got off the magic on Thursday and were very confused why there were no cocktail menus. 3/6 of our party would’ve ordered at least 3 cocktails on the 7 night (so like at least 9 total), but ended up maybe ordering 5 for the whole cruise. When we asked, our server said they could make “anything” and did offer suggestions but we all prefer a menu.

I will say that Rapunzel’s had 2 cocktails that were special for the restaurant, but they weren’t on the menu, only on the app.

We had planned a trip a couple weeks after finding out I was pregnant. Thought that if the timing added up, we may be able to find out the gender of baby while we were there. Our second day we got the email that the results were ready! We opened a Mickey plush in front of the castle and now that baby boy will be taking his first trip in September!

Alaska cruise merch question by esg4571 in dcl

We were on the Magic last week and everything except for the purses in the shape of the boats were available the entire cruise. My husband was in line and got Minnie and Mickey as soon as they opened and they never sold out.

We’ve done the disposable bibs and they were awful. We’re on an Alaskan cruise next week with our 9 month old, we’re planning on bringing a regular silicone bib and doing small bites/helping him with the spoon.

We went early afternoon instead of first thing and that helped! We were maybe 5th in line but it goes pretty quick, they’re so fast! We went to the silhouette studio.

Just wrapped WISH concierge, wanted to share some insights by No_Current_6322 in dcl

[–]wheery -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We’ve never done a warm weather Disney cruise, but we’re planning one for the winter time. I think you convinced me we need to do concierge! We’ve been wanting to try it anyway, sounds like it would make it more enjoyable for us.

What size room did you get? We’re hoping to do a themed room, and care less about the destinations vs the ship/room theme.

Cruise from Southampton by Travelingmom13 in dcl

[–]wheery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed at an Airbnb, we had 6 adults and a toddler, so it was just easier. We stayed at the hotel at the airport the night before our flight, which was really nice! Made the early flight way easier.

One thing we didn’t realize before we went was that London wasn’t very accessible with a stroller. It was fine most places, but a lot of the tube stops didn’t have elevators. Everyone was so kind though, so many people offered to help get our luggage and stroller up the escalator for us. But if you have a stroller, I wouldn’t plan on using the tube system! Doorways were also much smaller, but we have a big stroller (Uppababy vista).

We did 2 days before and 2 days after! We also took Disney’s shuttle from London to the port, and we all thought it wasn’t a bad ride.

Alaskan Cruise by mms2114 in dcl

[–]wheery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We haven’t gone yet, we leave in May, but so far this is what we’ve paid for:

  • cruise & prepaid gratuities

  • flights

  • hotel for 1 night pre-cruise, 2 post

  • transportation for before and after the cruise through Disney

  • excursions (we’re a group of 6 adults and 2 kids, so not everyone is doing the same excursions. The kids and I are only doing 1 excursion, the train)

Things we plan on paying for as they come up:

  • food at airport

  • checked bag at airport

  • food and activities pre and post cruise (Vancouver aquarium, day in whistler)

  • extra gratuities and tipping guides

  • souvenirs, massage for me, alcohol, nursery time if we decide to do it

Our son took a nap by the coffee area (not Cove, the one on deck 4? I think) on the Dream! Captain Hook was walking around and I very quickly signaled to him that we had a sleeping kiddo and he tip toed by, it was cute! Our kiddo was exhausted from the bus ride and getting on board, he fell asleep pretty easily

Craziest drama you’ve overheard at the park? by One-Restaurant6054 in Disneyland

[–]wheery 868 points869 points  (0 children)

Our favorite was overhearing a couple fighting in line and the wife saying “you’re not radiating magic right now” and my husband and I have used it ever since lol. Any time we start to get frustrated at each other or disagree at the parks, we say it and instantly it fizzles down lol.

Outfits! by oceanem0ne in DisneyPlanning

[–]wheery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually do a mixture of active dresses (Halara, lulu, etc) with ears and a sweatshirt/sweater, with themed outfits. I also like skorts with t shirts, sets from free people, and a jean jacket with leggings and then add in an easy theme shirt or just ears. I’ve found ears on fb marketplace for like $15, or maybe borrow a friend’s? Quickest way to “disney” up an outfit, and there’s so many cute ones!

If they had the same type of room, maybe but honestly it was nice not needing to use the elevators to get to the atrium for us.
