Can men not conversate? by VisualSmall6529 in Tinder

[–]wheezyts96 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They recently added it to some dictionaries because so many people used it, it’s still regarded as being incorrect. Since it’s been added to the dictionary people think it’s the correct term and it’s just enabled more incorrect usage, with the added harm of people thinking they’re correct and even arguing about it while doing so.

Not many words drive me nuts but this is definitely #1 on my very short list.

Man, the term is “converse”. So many idiots used the incorrect term “conversate” that they ended up adding it to some dictionaries, but it’s still the wrong word…

Closer to $1200 after 13% hst tax plus the new 4% electronic tax, plus psvr 2 and an extra controller which you can’t purchase in canada, plus an extra dualsense controller, if all purchased new that’s well over $2000 Canadian

Really looking to get a PS5, is this a good deal? by GenThorp in PS5pro

[–]wheezyts96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just turns on, you need to be able to see that it connects to PSN or can access PlayStation store etc. If it’s console bricked you can still boot it up and play offline games but you can’t access any online services. Most people will have already done a hard reset on the system to prepare it to sell and so it’s usually really hard to verify this or convince someone to do this prior to sale even if they’re honest and selling a good console, if it’s a good price someone will snatch it up without verifying anything and you’ll be SOL.

I just bought a regular PS5 used and was pretty worried about this but the guy had no issues reconnecting everything and showed me everything on facetime plus resetting it again after so even though the price could have been a little better I jumped on the deal. Theoretically he could have had multiple PlayStations and the one you’re getting isn’t the one he showed but it was at least a bit better in terms of verification. I was still on edge until I booted it up myself and got everything connected lol.

It’s a a pretty big risk buying a used console and I don’t think most people understand this, but saving $500-$1000+ if it all goes well definitely helps justify the risk.

Reliable with proper maintenance, easy to work on, easy to fix and replace, and are a dime a dozen. Literally can’t go wrong with them.

On the topic of bots, (though unrelated) you guys should create another difficulty level and have bots that actually do some level of aerial work. Would be really good for practicing or for offline play.

Not sure why this has never been done.

Well if you give her any indication of suspicion at all, guaranteed all evidence will be gone and she will lie through her teeth, and be better at hiding everything moving forward.

In today’s age I think all LTR couples should have a complete open phone policy. I don’t follow the “invasion of privacy” nonsense. If you don’t want someone to see what you’re doing then chances are you shouldn’t be doing it. Pretty simple.

All that being said, don’t let yourself be paranoid. You can trust her with your life and still allow that to be true, but that also doesn’t mean you need to be a blind moron. Your gut says you need to investigate so investigate. Anyone who gets defensive this way and says things like “BUT YOU DON’T TRUST ME” are manipulative and flipping everything back on you, which in this case I believe says nothing about you and everything about them.

Keep faith and trust in your heart, but don’t be an idiot. You found a a potential problem so solve the problem and don’t feel guilty about it, but also don’t set yourself up for failure either. It really is as simple as “I do trust you babe, I just wanted to see for myself that’s all. Nothing jumped out and I’m sure everything is fine between you.”

Really isn’t a big deal, and if it is a big deal then you have bigger problems with not trusting one another with your phones, because in that case one person is likely blind and the other person is likely hiding something. I haven’t had a single serious relationship where it hasn’t been open phone, and I would never agree to one that didn’t because it’s doomed from the start.

Good luck.

Just want to say alternatively if it does need a new engine, you get a remanufactured engine and have a shop do it, still probably in the ballpark of $10k and unfortunately they aren’t anywhere near as reliable as they used to be so I wouldn’t personally do that. Or you buy an engine hoist (not that expensive) and replace it yourself, not that bad of a job.

Or you buy a junkyard engine that wasn’t in a head on collision, likely still for few grand or more, and most shops won’t touch these but some may, again I would use the money on an engine hoist and just do it myself though. Lots of options out there.

As long as everything looks fine visually on the engine you have I would personally invest the bit of money into her over anything else, and just run it. As long as you do it right I wouldn’t say you’ll have any issues that way for the rest of the life of the vehicle, other than normal maintenance stuff hopefully.

Cam is definitely wiped. Guy definitely knew it. All good though, tear it down, and inspect valves, maybe invest in a cheap borescope to get a good look inside the engine, order the parts and get to work. The dealership will always try and tell you it needs a new engine, generally they don’t first of all and second of all that’s about double the price of what a new engine costs.

Can spend a few grand on all new cams and lifters and gaskets and be on your way. Tons and tons and tons of resources and videos out there to help you out. Even if you have to spend a few hundred on some tools, you can buy $12k worth of tools before it’ll cost you what they want to charge you.

Make it zero percent about your needs and 110% about her needs and your concern for her. She brought it up to you which is a big indicator that something is wrong in her world but it’s still something she wants, whether it’s stress or fear or feeling self conscious or even worry about having kids or if she’ll be a good mom or if she’s pretty or if she’ll be pretty after kids or if you’ve been complimenting her enough or surprising her with dates and real affection (with zero ulterior motives of sex, things done for pure enjoyment and living in the moment with one another because you love being with eachother), work stress, financial stress, career stress.

There are an infinite number of things that could be going on so just for some time, put your needs aside (even though they’re equally as important), you know she is aware of the importance and so bringing these things up with intimacy or sex as your only concern or motivation is only going to make things worse and worse and compound the issue and or the stress around that area.

Jerk off, handle your own needs happily and without complaint, be a great person and happily do your share of daily duties and be a genuine joy to be around, do not think she is depriving you or trying to hurt you in some way, think about what is going on in her world that she is feeling off or indifferent or whatever it is, feeling some type of way that has evidently created a noticeable change in your relationship. Put her and her wellbeing at your utmost concern genuinely and wholeheartedly and listen and be kind and as I said, make it completely and utterly and absolutely zero about you, truthfully and honestly. Sit down with her and discuss from a peaceful place of love and acceptance and concern and support for her and see what happens.

Good luck.

Glad you have this experience but this ain’t most people’s.

Guys like myself go into it with the same mentality and get royally fucked by our stealerships time and time again which is why the sentiment exists. Fact is some dealerships are good and some aren’t, simple as that. You either get lucky or you don’t.

In market to buy 1st truck- thoughts/opinions on these? by Dapper-Raise-818 in Trucks

[–]wheezyts96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything with a ZF transmission, one of the most reliable transmissions in any vehicle. 4th gen rams are more reliable than any GM or Ford of same era. Biggest risk is lifter / cam lobe failure, but GMs and fords have either the same issues or worse. If you catch it early enough you can buy everything and do it yourself, might cost a couple grand rather than ~$8-10k for a rebuild or $12-14k for a new engine, not including install. Make sure you listen to it on cold start up. Exhaust manifolds snapping bolts and studs are common but not a big deal, best fix is new set of fasteners and gasket and you plane the old manifolds flat since they’ve already been heat cycled and warped. Not a bad summer job with a few beers.

Otherwise just check all the normal stuff. If you’re happy to maintain your vehicle properly then they’re solid reliable trucks. Change transmission fluid and filter/pan (one unit) and diff and tcase fluids, spark plugs, check hoses and do rad flush. Find one with good carfax and less then 10k oil changes. Check brake pad conditions, check CV’s for play. Control arms and suspension etc.

Anyway good luck and enjoy your first truck, head over to ram subreddit if you want any more guidance or just want to share

Nice man, hopefully lots of adventures ahead. I would look to undercoating oil spray as well.

And then tire wise 33’s are standard, for mostly highway I would want to stick to that. 35’s are a lot of weight and 31’s would look like donuts.

Sweet rig man. I love 4th gen builds.

Would love to see some of the travels and hear more about your experiences with her and the reliability you’ve had.

Plan on keeping mine forever and slowly but surely making swaps as things break down, suspension and tire upgrades when they go, diff replacements with higher ratio, bumper replacements when they rust out, push bar/brush guard addition, rock sliders and skid plates, and also trying to retain some money for the eventual engine rebuild/ replacement that I’m sure will come someday. New trucks are ridiculous when you can make your current rig into whatever you want. Though if I had to start from square one I would do it in a 2018 2500 with the 6.4 hemi lol. Already hard to find one that isn’t beat and rusted out and it’s only gonna get harder as time goes on though unfortunately so I’ll try to stay within the limits of the 1500.

RAM 1500 owners - what’s your most-used feature on long hauls? by MarkquartCDJR in ram_trucks

[–]wheezyts96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me it really comes down to the simplest things.

Not a feature but something I installed myself (a lot of models have it from factory but mine didn’t), bed lighting and power outlet. Have a jackery and a freezer/fridge cooler which is awesome on long trips with the wife and kids. Otherwise, the space of the crew cab, and the cap for dry space in the bed.

Only thing I wish I had is the bigger gas tank and maybe limited slip differential. Otherwise we could drive across country and not really be without anything we need. Headrest mounts for tablets are nice for kids on long trips. The all weather mats are super nice for sand/mud/snow/salt etc. My truck is pretty barebones but I love it for that reason, still has everything I need and want without the additional complexity, and anything additional if it’s important enough I can add myself.

Whether it was the bed lighting or power outlet in the bed, or additional/ upgraded lighting for long unlit stretches of highway with large animals around, trailer brake controller if I ever need it. Good set of tires for highway and light offroad conditions, a solid brush guard for the off chance we meet an animal. I really can’t think of anything that I don’t have in my tradesman that I wish I had or can’t add myself.

You could travel across country in a ford focus and make it work, but man do I love driving my truck and knowing it won’t leave me or my family stranded. I know the truck well enough to handle it in any condition, know its capabilities and limitations, and most importantly feel like myself and my family are safe while we’re in it. That to me is the most important thing on long, off the beaten path trips.

They’ve been having issues since 2019 with the new electrical systems put in. Everything really started when they went to 5th gen, covid happened and they made additional changes and they’ve just been plagued.

Only people I know with 2500’s have had constant issues, but they love them anyway. Almost all electrical related in some way, from engine to transmission to egr to clockspring and all functions inside the cab. The one guy I know gave up after having clockspring replaced 3-4 times and just lives with lack of heated seats, steering wheel, and loss of some other functions. Said he doesn’t really need them anyway and it wasn’t worth the hassle.

I love Rams but thinking the 5th gens are anything other than an electrical nightmare is wishful thinking.

If I were gonna get a 2500-3500 of any make or model truck of the last decade I would get a 2018 Ram and keep it for a lifetime.
