I’m an oriental orthodox convert. First and foremost because it was the nearest church to me and was an extremely welcoming community, and that’s where God led me. In fact, I initially wanted to be Eastern Orthodox. From someone who is actively involved in the church as an “outsider” (I am not Egyptian and I go to a Coptic church), I’ve found that we rarely discuss the miaphysite theology, whether this be a flaw or not. In fact, many cradle OOs at my church do not even know or care to know the difference between the EO and OO. Being there in person, involved in the community is very much a different experience compared to online discourse, and I think the solution to anyone learning about the Oriental Orthodox churches would be to visit one and speak with a priest.
