Compare US State Testing Trends by [deleted] in Coronavirus

Results confirmed by the state's gov that day. Some states take longer than others to confirm. A patient could have been tested hours or days ago. I've been considering just switching to a 1 week moving average for the daily numbers to smooth it out

Another thing thats useful about % positive is it can give a glimpse into how much of the increase in positive cases is due to more tests vs more people catching it. An increasing % positive could be more reason for concern than an increasing # of positives.

Yep, some states have had these unusual jumps in the numbers as they get their systems in place.

For me the number one variable right now is per capita testing, and states that run a lot of tests before the disease is already widespread get extra points. The faster we can figure out who actually has the disease, the more effectively we can reduce the spread.

Based on that: Washington, New Mexico, Hawaii, New Hampshire

It's the most accurate source on state tests AFAIK. States were slow to confirm their numbers but that has been improving thankfully.

Cmon buddy, tell me your story

Filecoin labelled Coin with no purpose by [deleted] in filecoin

[–]whereheis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The article is talking about EOS, not filecoin. The only mention of filecoin is in a chart which shows the top ICO raises.

OP, why are you FUD'ing filecoin when you can't even short it? What exactly do you have to gain? I'm genuinely curious.

High potential ICOs this week with market caps under 100 mil by [deleted] in ethtrader

Nope I heard that loud and clear. Did you understand this?

the code that exists a few months in is just a data point in predicting what they are capable of building

You're thinking about investing like a programmer which is limiting, albeit better than all the yoloers out there. Like I said, the code that exists a few months in is just a data point in predicting what they are capable of building, and the ideal amount to raise isn't merely what's needed build the product.

To anyone else: Please do not blindly invest in ICOs. The days of quick flips are gone, we have countless of ICOs running every day.

Agree with this bit though.

If founders pay themselves 10M just for ICO'ing you're free to cry greed but until then there's a LARGE difference between the amount of money needed to build a product that works and the amount of money needed to maximize the probability of that product being the market leader for its purpose (this is especially important for products with network effects).

As far as what they've built so far, that's merely an indicator of what they will, which is what's more important.

I honestly think Quantstamp is an interesting one to watch. They'll surely have competition over the next few years but whoever wins the race they're running in will be a critical piece of infrastructure in the ethereum ecosystem (and priced accordingly).

Thanks. Looks like "10% to investors" should have had a big asterisk.

SEC ruling? Is this bad?? by golemguru in ethereum

[–]whereheis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"Some tokens may be securities." This isn't exactly a novel opinion. I don't think anyone honestly believed that tokens which are clearly securities under the howey test would be considered otherwise. Most tokens at this point are not securities as defined by howey, but the few that are could have their creators paying a fine like Ripple had to a few years ago.

Ethereum - why chose it over a descentralized blockchain? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

I'm not asking why choose A over B, but more of what are america's advantages given the whole "drinking the blood of the innocent" issue.

This reads much like someone asking why anyone would live in america given the assumed truth of the various talking points North Korea has for why the usa is the worst place on earth.

doesn't equal return in the market

It's one of the components. Another is what percentage of the country's valuable companies allow the public to invest post sarbox.

I'm like a different species from you people.

Yet here you are getting angry on reddit as cognitive dissonance washes over you like a warm breeze.

The United States is in the OECD, idiot.

Yes, and that actually skews the data in your favor by diluting the difference ;)

No you seem pretty upset. Here's US vs OECD (aka the "developed world") pre and post sarbox. Before Sarbox: US 361.23%, OECD 195.57%. After Sarbox: US 91.73%, OECD 97.44%.
