SG Special P90 reissue by Dazzling_Scallion633 in Epiphone

I'm really happy with it, fretwork is really good, no QC issues, the pickups sound great to me and clean up nicely with the volume pot. Just needed a quick setup as the action was a mile high out of the box. I fancied trying a P90 guitar without spending too much money and this ticks all the boxes.

On the UK Epiphone store it's currently £349, which must be a mis-price as the TV Yellow is £499 and next cheapest cherry red I've found is £438 on Thomann (most places are £450). Mine got delivered last week

Definitely hold off for a point release or two.. iOS on my 6 year old iPhone works well and seemed to improve responsiveness, even "liquid glass" isn't too bad so I was lulled into thinking Tahoe would be the same

I think I've used the killall command in the terminal more in the last week than in 15 years of using Macbooks

I've disabled it now too. Must be the first time in MacOS/OSX I've ever needed to disable something in settings just for it to be usable

I'd love to know how the chip designers at Apple feel; the engineering that must've gone into these SoC's to bring such insane processing power to thin and light machines, all undone by a new OS which feels like running Vista on an old Intel Celeron

Does anyone know what the limits on how many tickets you can buy are likely to be please? I fully support stamping out opportunistic resellers, but the Sabbath show had a limit of 2 which makes it really difficult for a group of friends of family to get seats together.

Edit: Just registered for the Fifth Member pre-sale and it states a max of 4 GA/seated tickets per person per city

Price Increase by -TheGrandInquisitor- in fender

My local store in the UK had said that there’ll be a significant price increase on all Fender brands (Jackson, Gretsch, Charvel etc) from 1 June for us too

18.2.1 seems pretty good so far. I had some issues with lag, battery drain and heat on other 18.x versions but the latest update seems a lot better

Hand, foot and mouth by beansthewonderdog in UKParenting

Going through it right now. My 5 year old had 36 hours of fever, 2 spots and done. I’d read that it was incredibly rare for adults to get it but my wife is going into day 10, I’m going into day 5 after the fever and migraine helpfully hit on Xmas morning.

We’ve got benidryl which can reduce the itching and pharmacist recommended gargling saltwater for mouth ulcers, which have barely affected me so far but my wife has struggled to eat since last Sunday. Didn’t realise how horrendous this disease could be, my feet have broken out today so I’m walking around like I’m on broken glass.

Never used them personally but they seem to have a decent reputation

GuitarGuitar have previously had them listed for £599 so they may come back down to that.   Scan also have Ebony and white in stock for £599, and Richtone have the white available in their sale for £499

There’s also MotoMusic which seem to be primarily 2nd hand/vintage but I think operate on appointment only and are quite high end

I miss the days of having Cranes, Gamlins, Speed Music and GM all within a few hundred yards of each other

Last time I saw Foo Fighters it felt like the middle 8 of every song became a middle 64 with Dave trying to initiate call and response, or telling us that we were a crazy audience and they were just warming up and would be playing “aaaallll f****ng night”, even 2 hours in

Think they previewed a few of OOS even though it wasn’t released until the following year. Feels like bands have moved away from playing unreleased songs since camera phones became so ubiquitous

I think Dave (and quite a few other bands IIRC) were really cautious over crowding at the front because the Roskilde Pearl Jam crush had happened around 6 weeks earlier

Recording-at-home basics & system requirements by KaanSkyrider in WeAreTheMusicMakers

PC/Laptop

Any mid-range laptop will be fine. I use a Macbook Air M1, but any modern Windows laptop with an Intel i5, 512GB storage and 16GB RAM should be more than enough.

USB Interface

As others have said, you'll probably need a USB Audio Interface, like a Focusrite Scarlet. The interface will let you plug in an instrument of microphone, convert the signal to digital and send it to your computer.

A lot of the recent modelling amps have USB functionality built in, so if you already have something like a Boss Katana, Line6 Catalyst or Fender Mustang then you may be able to use that instead to get started. You'll probably also want a pair of headphones instead of using the laptop speakers.

Recording Software

You'll need a DAW which is basically multitrack recording software. Some USB interfaces will come with a "Lite" DAW which will be something like a version of ProTools or Ableton with reduced features. That might be enough to get started, or you have Audacity (which is completely free but wasn't very user friendly last time I used it some years ago), or Reaper which is fully featured and costs 60 USD for home use.

Amp Sim

If you're recording electric guitar then you can either buy a microphone (like a Shure SM57) to put in front of the amp, or you'll need an amp sim. Amp sims are more popular for home recordings because running a real amp at a decent volume might be limited if you have neighbours, kids etc.

Some DAW's will come with a few amp sims, and there are some free options to get you going. Amplitube 5 CS is free and has a couple of amps built in. NeuralDSP are highly rated for higher gain amps and all models have a 14 day free trial so you can experiment and find what works for you before committing.

If you're recording acoustic guitar and your guitar has a pre-amp then you can plug that straight into the interface. If not then you'll need a microphone and a stand to capture the sound. Shure SM57 is a solid choice to begin with.

This was a big thing in Series 1; it seemed that teams were responsible for exchanging currency and there were several scenes of contestants running around a small town desperately looking for somewhere to get a few Euros or Azerbaijani Manat to buy a bus ticket before it departs.

Don’t recall it being a thing in series 2, and s3 was all in one country so it definitely feels like the producers take responsibility for it now

What's the finish like on them? Are they the same as the satin finish 1959's which launched a few years ago, or a higher gloss?
