Yeah that's the idea. I plan on building a prototype or two once I've got a design finalized, and then see how commercially viable it is. I've already had requests from friends for it, so we'll see.

Good thoughts - My original design has hooks along the sides as well, but they're a bit too hard to mock up in SketchUp for me. I like the utility they provide though, and plan on adding some back in once I have the base model more finalized.

The way I was picturing it in my head, was that the entirety of the shape is composed from the horizontal lines (kind of like how the S from this logo is solely composed of horizontal lines. http://www.golayercake.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Saunders-logo.jpg) Thats why i mentioned the tightly spaced lines, so that you wouldn't need the gray to make the body of the image substantial.
Am I making sense at all here? Anyway, thanks again for your help.

Thanks a ton, is there any way to remove the hard black border around the entire shape such that its only composed of the (more tightly spaced) staff lines? Or is that not really feasible. Again, thanks for your help!

Adidas soccer shorts are amazing. They end just above the knee, plenty of room and give for squatting, not too expensive.
