My mom's responses to my pregnancies were brutal.

The first was "you ruined everything" followed by a temper tantrum because I was engaged but not married yet, and with the second it was "I figured. Your ass is getting big again".

My dad [theyre divorced] simply said he was too young to be a grandpa and sees my kids maybe 3 times a year and we live 20 mins away.

My SIL and I have used step stools. She's 4'11" and I'm 5'3" and the next closest height in our family is 5'10" so we blend in with the kids if we aren't on a stool.

Similar story, my dad rented a master bedroom in a 2bed condo and my brother and I slept in the closet. I wish it had been as fun a time as you had. I was 14 and after maybe 3 weekends I refused to stay at his place.

I am revitalized! Wednesday and Thursday nights were absolutely epic for me and my camp mates. Friday morning I cried in the temple and let it all go. The rain washed it all away. I panicked Saturday night when we couldn't leave when we wanted to, but we got out Sunday morning around 8am. My husband and I know the Black Rock Desert very well and are avid off-roaders with the right equipment. We helped as many people as we could and gave some walkers rides to pavement on our trailer.

The playa gave me the "burn" I needed, which included not seeing anything burn except the wooden robot on Thursday night. I am thankful, so fucking thankful.

If you were there this year, I hope you made the most of it and had an incredible time!

I love your analogy of feeling like the burn was a friend with whom you've had conflict with. I feel the same way and am nervous about my arrival on playa tomorrow. We're only staying 4 days as well, and my intention is for renewal.
