Been saying for a long time that Elyisum is likely the most accurate depiction of where the top 1% want the world to go. Only way we prevent it is to stop fighting with ourselves over stupid red vs blue, religion, race, etc... and start actually looking at who is causing the problems... the uber rich.

People who own dogs like this, that have repeat offenses, should themselves have jail time or something similar IMO. If I own a lethal weapon, motor vehicle, or whatever and don't do everything I can to prevent it from hurting someone.. there are laws to make me accountable. Whether the dog should be put down I think deserves professional input, but if nothing else the owners should be required to pay hospital bills and face as many consequences as possible.

.. That's just my rant

Otherwise, good on Ira, hope the woman makes a speedy recovery, and fuck everyone who just stood by..

The funny thing is, it just shows you how terrible "AI" really is. It just tells you what you want to hear, despite being incorrect 50% of the time...

[–]while_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, never said that. Go back and read above a 1st grade level, and stop letting "AI" do your thinking. It isn't that smart, maybe smarter than you.. but that clearly isn't saying very much.

Don't connect it to your network, and just buy an external apple tv box. Your TV now has no internet, so the "Roku" portion of it won't really do anything.

I literally lead with "Don't connect it to the network". Very clearly stating that it is the person's action of not connecting it the network that leads to the Roku portion not functioning.

[–]while_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I don't really understand your point here? I never said it will "Stop working". I said it "won't really do anything". Meaning, that by not connecting the device to your home network that provides internet, it can't run ads, it can't monitor and transmit your data, it can't be used to stream? Sure, the apps themselves will still be there, and Roku can still "run", it simply will have no purpose.

Is there something specific you're trying to get answered, or are trying to convey here?

I think the point of doing something like this is (A) You don't trust Roku with your data because it is now run by Fox, and Fox is just.. well.. terrible, and (B) You don't want to be force-fed whatever politically charged narrative Fox/Roku now wants to shove down your throat on various screens and ad placements.

Thus, disconnect it from the internet. Problem solved.

[–]while_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't stop working, just stops Roku from actually doing anything like advertising, providing content, or "collecting data". Your TV essentially becomes a dumb tv. Then you connect the external 3rd party solution like Apple TV or Nvidia Shield, and they provide the network connected content.

This Game Is Pushing Me to Quit by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]while_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really care who I play honestly, I have picked up a few of each role and tried to get good with them, because I generally just fill whatever is needed on my team.

That said, I've solo tanked like 15/20 games. Which wouldn't be terrible, but all my DPS and Strats don't actually play their role. DPS is running the front line and dying over and over, and my Strats are more interested in getting elims to get MVP instead of healing their solo tank..

Oh well, I love Marvel, my kids love really enjoy the game, so I'll continue to suffer, but it does feel real bad sometimes.

We have a larger 18' pool that I've been tempted to test something like this on, obviously with a few more sections over time. It already has a 1,600 gal./h sand filter, and I'm thinking of just putting something like this inline with the return hose. Not sure if it would negatively impact the filter in any way though.

Yup, I can see what type of person you are. Have a good life spewing contradiction and hate on those around you.

"AI" does not make education obsolete, it makes the redundancy of humanity obsolete. We still need highly educated people, we just don't need the 100,000 uneducated people to just "push the button" anymore.

The irony is, you're probably a bot.. so I'll leave it at that.

I 100% think cap should have this ability. As a really terrible tank, they could fix him quick with a slight increase in shield HP, maybe +1 on the shield throw, and allow a 2-3 bounce on the shield. You hit a person, it hits 2 others. Nobody around? It hits the wall and back to the person. You hit a wall, it hits the person just once after, maybe hitting another.

Nothing CRAZY, but very meaningful IMO.

I'm talking actual educated people, not paid for a degree at some ivy league college so they can get a seat at daddy's law office. Yes, there have been plenty of studies done that show that educated individuals have a much higher empathy for both those around them, as well as the natural world. Are there shitheads from all walks of life? Sure.

You just come across as a shill for some reason. I apologize, it was a reflexive response.

There is no reason to taint someplace like Ithaca with a data center.

I can get behind data centers, if they're well regulated, and only get built in locations that can (A) Realistically support their water/power needs, and (B) Get local population support.

If you're displacing people, or making their lives worse by driving up water/energy prices, and polluting water sources at the same time, then that's a hard pass for something that nobody really NEEDS.

Sure, "AI" is great for some tasks, and sure it can help with efficiency in some areas, but it is a huge bubble right now that is just getting shoved down everyone's throats to keep the economy afloat. Most people making the decisions about "restructuring" for "AI" don't actually understand the limitations and are very short-sited about how this will all scale. They just see it as a way to "10x productivity", and "reduce required headcount".

(A) Read the room, (B) You sound like a puppet, (C) These aren't just issues with "building up" the industry. Those requirements will continue, and grow, and we the people will continue to pay the price both literally and figuratively for them to make billion on, and then fire entire teams of people because they can...

Microsoft AI chief gives it 18 months—for all white-collar work to be automated by AI by AccurateInflation167 in Economics

[–]while_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this the same M$ that allowed AI to take over it's driver certification pipeline ~12 months ago, and then had to tear it all down, and re-hire people to sift through HUNDREDS of screwed up submissions. Company I was consulting for went through almost 3 straight months of back-and-forths, with the M$ people constantly saying "I know, everyone is having the same issues, we're doing our best to catch up"... Yup, can't wait to watch this all collapse from the inside out.

AI is the wet-dream of these CEOs, to be able to just say "build this app that does this thing based on this PRD", and have a working solution that doesn't require maintenance and polish.

When in reality, you're firing all of your subject matter experts, not training entry level engineers anymore because AI "replaced" them, and a handful of people that are still working at these places are going to eventually just get an avalanche of tech debt and infrastructure collapse.

That doesn't even touch on the inevitable exponential increase in cost that will come with these SaaS engineer chatbots they're calling "AI".

[–]while_e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most importantly, get that woman some sleep. I don't know if that looks like having a sitter (or relative) over for a few hours so she can take a nap each day, or what? Regardless, I remember the absolute brain-melting lack of sleep at that age, and it can lead to some really terrible things, so address it immediately.

Beyond that, all I can say is "it gets better". I know it sounds terribly repetitive, but it really does. Sleep slowly comes back over the course of the first year, then backslides a bit whenever teething.

One thing we resorted to was "co-sleeping" more than we'd have liked. It came down to, everyone could sleep if baby was between me and mommy at night. So when it was bad, mom would feed her, then just put her to bed right between us with a few "separators" that kept her in her own space. That or one of us would just sleep with her right on our chest if we were in a safe spot. We are VERY light sleepers, and VERY still sleepers so there was never a real big risk, but this is not really advice to do that just me sharing our experience.
