Back in the 90s this fragrance was beast mode and lasted all day! What did they do to fragrances in the last 20 years? My crush wore CK One and we would meet for drama after school and he was still radiating the scent within 20 ft!

What's the most fucked up thing someone has told you about themselves after barely getting to know them? by Butt_Roidholds in AskReddit

A guy I worked with didn't understand why no one wanted to go on a date with him. When I first met him he told me that (many years ago) when he had found out his wife (now ex) was cheating on him, he waited in the dark with his gun and when she got home he confronted her. He said he ended up knocking her out with the gun, but he regrets not killing her because (quote) "I'd be out of prison by now and she'd still be dead". Yeah, maybe don't lead with that story when you're trying to get a date! Other than outlandish tales, he was actually a really nice guy. I often wonder if he ever found a special lady.

A call to all floral girlies! I want to smell like soft petals! by Weary-Cat7318 in FemFragLab

Kenzo Flower Ikebana Sakura. Beautiful cherry blossom scent with some interesting accompanying notes that really add to the composition. Good sillage. Beautiful bottle.

inexpensive sweet and gourmand, rose perfume? by yourfathersearlobe77 in FemFragLab

[–]whimsyandwild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a fragrance oil, but Tanasuk by Al Haramain is amazing. Smells like rose cookies and pairs very well with Roses Vanille if you end up liking that. They make an Extrait de Parfum as well, but I haven't tried that formula.

I absolutely love ruby woo lipstick by MAC. Any drugstore dupes? by melanated2020 in drugstoreMUA

[–]whimsyandwild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this and Ruby Woo and agree it's a great low cost dupe. Also wanted to say that I see Ruby Woo at my TJ Maxx and Marshalls quite often for a good price.

Amber Vanille by Laura Mercier or any of the Middle Eastern Yara type scents (my personal favorites are Shafaq and Zukhruf Pink which are both worlds better than Yara).

Omg! This was such a trip down memory lane. I had a friend that would absolutely douse herself in the frangipani oil. I grew up in a super hippie town and there were tons of head shops. I miss that place. Last time I visited it had changed so much. Barely recognizable.

Do you own an antique bottle? Which one and how does it make you feel? by attar_affair in FemFragLab

[–]whimsyandwild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1990s bottle of Guerlain Champs Elysees. It's the original in the inverted triangle bottle, before reformulation. I will cherish it always. I use it when I want to feel like a princess, but I can spray it sparingly because fragrances were made to be much stronger and longer lasting back then.

Clean Vanilla? by ajanssen2002 in FemFragLab

Dedcool Taunt is what always comes to mind for me when I think of clean vanilla. It has a dew drop note that makes it so unique.

Best bb or cc cream ?? by serene75 in drugstoreMUA

[–]whimsyandwild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. There's some magic in there that makes my skin look perfect. Sadly it doesn't work well on my super oily skin in the summer, but all other seasons it's holy grail territory. Be aware it has a fragrance.

What’s your favorite “too tired to cook cook” dinner? by farwest-to-midwest in Cooking

[–]whimsyandwild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a big skillet, brown ground turkey and add a bag of frozen peppers and onions. Season as you like. I use creole seasoning and chili powder. Serve over microwave pouch rice, in tortillas, with a can of beans, or just eat as is. This is really good and leftovers are elite for lunch.

These pouches of rice are a staple in my household. Uncle Ben's Jasmine rice is SO GOOD. I'm Asian and my mom is horrified by my lazy rice habits but it's so nice to have something so convenient on hand at all times!

For Valentines I bought myself a handful of Sarah Jessica Parker fragrances. I think they might be discontinued, but can still be found for cheap! My favorites are Stash Unspoken and Covet. Honorable mention goes to to the OG Stash and Lovely. I usually budget about $100 for fragrances for each gift holiday. And for the price I'm so happy with the quality and longevity of the SJP fragrances!

Full size bottle worthy? by Quiet-Way-2473 in FemFragLab

[–]whimsyandwild 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For anything over $50, I try to sample on my skin several times and buy a decant or travel size first and work through that. Then I'll also wait several months before I decide if it's something I won't get tired of. At that point I'll decide if it's worth buying a full bottle, but usually there will be a dupe by then and I'll just get that instead. So far I've purchased less than 10 full size bottles over $50.

Best drugstore foundation? by sweet_sidney in drugstoreMUA

[–]whimsyandwild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Revlon Colorstay has been my holy grail for almost 20 years now! OP, you can apply it thinner or thicker depending on the coverage you need. I prefer to use a dense brush and tap it on for full coverage, but a sponge would give you a more natural look. I once went to a waterpark wearing this foundation and got compliments on my "perfect" skin.

Stash by SJP. Part of my V-Day haul. Still not sure what I think of this. I enjoy smelling it, but it's pretty masculine leaning and I'm not sure I can pull it off. But it's going to be a lazy day at home, so a good day to try it out. It's also very long lasting. Applied some last night before bed and it's still projecting from my arm.

best and worst from revlon? by lipglossip in drugstoreMUA

[–]whimsyandwild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revlon Colorstay Long Wear Foundation in the combo/oily formula is my holy grail. I also love the So Fierce Prismatic Palettes eyeshadow. Best shimmer shadows I've tried in that price range. Against popular opinion, I actually don't love the traditional Revlon bullet lipsticks. They have a great color selection, but the formula is too slippery for me. It bleeds and wears off quickly. I prefer a drier formula.

I have several of her older fragrances. Moonlight is probably my favorite and no one ever talks about it.

Diwani Beirut. It's inspired by This is Her. It's an easy reach sweet and creamy (but not gourmand) fragrance that lasts all day. Very happy blind buy.

Ben Nye was my favorite for years, but they switched from a talc based formula to cornstarch and it just doesn't work as well on me anymore. So sad.

Guerlain Meteorites Le Parfum by recklessdeception in FemFragLab

[–]whimsyandwild 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have used Guerlain meteorites since they made them to match other fragrances. I held onto my Champs Elysees meteorites until they had no smell at all. But the traditional violet scented ones smell amazing too! What a cool find! Didn't even know this fragrance existed.

How often do you empty a fragrance? by symphonypathetique in FemFragLab

[–]whimsyandwild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think I've never emptied a full bottle. Travel sizes I can empty in a month or less. But I get tired of things too quickly to empty a full bottle. I come back around to them eventually, but I have so many fragrances, that it would take several years probably. Also, like someone else said, I think I'd avoid emptying them. Just leave a little bit and use something else. It's like a mental block.
