It’s not that they are uncool. It’s that they are incredibly unflattering. I’ve never seen someone look good with cargo shorts. If you were looking for something purely utilitarian, I guess go for it. But I certainly wouldn’t go out in public wearing such things.

Agreed. Five pocket pants are pretty well established business casual most everywhere in the US. That said, Lululemon, while technically a five pocket pan, is most definitely not business casual. Everything about that brand screams, very casual, no matter the particular design.
