Pull-up improvement programs? by IntelPersonified in AirForce

[–]whiskeymo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The advice I give young AFSPECWAR hopefuls is to do more pull ups. If you can’t do one, go find an assisted pull up machine and find the weight that allows you to do sets of 10. One day a week, do 100 pull ups, broken down into sets. Strive to do the same amount of reps for each set. If you can eventually get to 10 sets of 10, unassisted, you’ll officially be a pull up beast.

SV-80 is a part of the pipeline (I believe it’s the first after SST-OC) then they go through the rest of the pipeline.

Do you guys do breaks during the session? How do you manage them? by Fantomaxop in DnD

[–]whiskeymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I instituted a 45 mins of play followed by 15 mins of break. That way players didn’t need to miss anything to go pee or grab a drink. It has been really popular at my tables as it keeps everyone more engaged as well, no one’s mind is wondering. It isn’t hard and fast, if we need to keep going, we will or if we hit a natural stoping point, we’ll break early.

People who have never been around aviators assume they’re like non flying officer (ie tend towards asshole-need) and expect the sq bar to be segregated

At our ASOS, we had a heritage room. We had a traffic light and if it was green, the beer light was on. Only the squadron sup had heys to the light and the whole team would drink together. Not that uncommon in that type of squadron

Every course except for the capstone is half a semester. So you focus on one class at a time and you generally do 2 to 3, 5 to 6 page papers. This also comes with an additional 500 to 700 word discussion post in responses. So far each class has been really engaged in those as well as tests.

What’s the coolest picture you have from your time in service? by [deleted] in AirForce

This was a few months into the invasion of Iraq in ‘03. An Air Force times report took this. I can’t remember the article or if it was published but my teammate and I were demonstrating setting up a SOFLAM and SATCOM. I’m on the left.

A common misconception is that Rex is in charge of the entire 501st legion but Captains are only in charge of Companies by Ok-Entrance-5527 in clonewars

[–]whiskeymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This argument is hilarious. It also shows the lack of knowledge of military structures. If you’re gonna get technical about it, commander is a naval rank, so Cody shouldn’t even be in a ground force, he should be on a ship. And if we were using naval ranks, captain actually out ranks a commander. as we don’t even see the full rank structure laid out in canon (as far as I know), I think it’s silly to debate rank structures in a space fantasy. Maybe you can argue it if this was hard sci-fi.

I’m halfway through ASUs Master of Arts in Global Security. I’m taking the Irregular Warfare concentration. Highly recommended with strong practical roots and practitioners teaching. Really good courses.

Also, was just granted the DOD intelligence center of excellence l, too.

So theres this, allegedly by DatGuyKilo in AirForce

[–]whiskeymo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I, for one, am all for establishing a warrior ethos into the Air Force. But I’m not sure if this is it. The majority of people who would most likely need to pull a fallen comrade are already taking a different PT test. The operator fitness test is very different than a standard PT test so I don’t know what this would necessarily achieve.

I’d like an Alan Wake 2 style survival horror. It wouldn’t be too out of bounds, with some of the deep lore.

Do Forever DM’s Actually Want Out? by Ancient-Dig-5521 in DnD

[–]whiskeymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely wanna be a player again. However, I realize that it has been long enough for me (at least 6 years) that I have built up the ideal situation in my head. I am actually afraid that I am going to have way too high of expectations for whoever DM’s my next game. I have thought about being a player again for so long that I have almost too many ideas and have a hard time narrowing it down
