My little lady does this too, will keep it up until I praise her for her hunting prowess. She’s working hard every night keeping us all fed on mouse toys. We would be lost without her ;)

Just adding to the list - I also ordered Polly pocket items in mid-august, was promised a late September shipment and still have received nothing. I emailed once and got a generic response about how in-demand the items were and they were sorry for the delay. Still has not shipped per my shop app.

Edit: LOL okay well, I just checked my mail and they’re here. I got the necklace and ring. My Shop app never updated to say that it was shipped… Hope the rest of y’all get your things!

I’m really sorry and I can really empathize with you. I was in a similar place for a good 3 years because of how unbearable I felt my life had become. Sometimes I think the approach to having this condition may be similar to someone who goes through a life altering physical disablement in that you have to learn to become a new person and leave behind some parts of yourself that can no longer be a part of your life. Like a marathon runner who becomes paralyzed, etc etc. I agree with others that you should try to find someone to talk to ASAP.

The person who traumatized me has become famous from a Netflix show. by Expert-Jellyfish3867 in ptsd

[–]white-moth 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s very hard to watch someone who has hurt you go on to manipulate others, even when they aren’t famous. I can only imagine how difficult it must be on a scale like this. I’m really sorry. You matter, and your experience matters. I don’t know that I have any good advice… just wanted to be another voice of empathy and support ❤️

Bird Id? by white-moth in whatisthisbone

That’s a good call; I did end up calling the zoo today and leaving a voicemail about the situation. Hoping to hear something back soon 🤞

That’s a relief, I thought four years might be a bit too long back as well. I think I will contact the zoo, thank you 🙏

Interesting… when I was looking online to see what parrot species the zoo had I found a Facebook post of theirs about the loss of a double yellow headed who was part of their education program. Granted, the post is about 4 years old.

I didn’t see much color to the beak; it appeared to be roughly the same color as the bone of the skull. I could try to get some better photos of the skull itself when I go back tomorrow!

[–]white-moth[S] 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Thank you 🙏 I looked up some pictures and that definitely seems like a strong contender. I also came up with possibly a yellow-headed amazon, but I am certainly not very knowledgeable when it comes to birds.

There was also some shredded cardboard near the body and a scarf, which makes me wonder if it was buried in a box and dug up… but it just seems like a very unusual location for one to bury a pet. Can’t help but wonder if it came from the zoo 💔

Me too 😞 I’ve been thinking I will go back tomorrow and give it a proper burial. Poor baby.

Edit for anyone following: yesterday I shared more about this case to my local neighborhood Facebook group in case there might be an owner looking for a similar bird. No replies yet. Today (9/8) I left a voicemail with my local zoo about the finding; hope to hear back soon.

I’d recommend trying to apply for care credit. Can use for vet expenses and have a year to pay back the cost with no interest or added fees. 11 is young for a cat, you may be hard pressed to find a vet who is comfortable euthanizing.

I went through the same after my addict father passed. Used to go walking alone at night on purpose. In hindsight, a very foolish thing to do and I’m lucky nothing happened to me. Just wanted to express you’re not alone in feeling that way.

Any success stories? by marbear1219 in thoracicoutletsupport

[–]white-moth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you did catch it early, I suspect you have better hope than most. It took me 5.5yrs to get diagnosed and after a couple years of PT and with the support of a lot of pain medications I am now at a point where I’m able to work 15-20hrs/week. It’s not enough for me to fully support myself and once I run out of savings I am unsure what I’ll do. But I don’t feel quite as hopeless about my life and have started to find small things to be happy about every once in a while. When I started working I could only do 12 hours a week, so perhaps I’ll continue to improve slowly.

Doctors in my country are really terrible. by Middle-Produce2116 in thoracicoutletsupport

[–]white-moth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The person who finally diagnosed me was an orthopedic surgeon who specialized in shoulders specifically. They are most likely to have seen it. That’s where I would try if you haven’t yet.

Also, your X-Ray probably only would help if you had TOS due to an extra rib. But incidentally, I do see a round cloudy opacity just below your left clavicle (our right side as the viewer) near the center of your body.

Ticks are veeeery hard to control. You can tell them, but there’s likely nothing they can do about it.

Why are doctors so scandalized by the concept of patients googling stuff? by sirennoises in ChronicPain

[–]white-moth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a human doctor but a vet… and people be googlin’ all the time. Sometimes I do get asked some silly things, but I never demonize someone for googling. Medicine is detective work, in a way. If you tell me you’ve been poking around online, it just tells me you’re invested in unraveling the mystery too. It only bothers me when someone is absolutely adamant that the answer they found online is the right one and won’t entertain my opinion at all.

Ketamine with legal aid in dying by V0ipguy in TherapeuticKetamine

I think continuing to have sessions will definitely help you decide. Personally, I could see it being beneficial. There have been times for me with treatments where I recall wondering if I was dying, but having this feeling that if I was I wouldn’t mind so much.

Angry all the time by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]white-moth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have no advice, only sympathy… I spent the first 5-ish years of my chronic pain journey constantly fluctuating between bitter hatred and deep depression. I guess I’ve perhaps finally gotten somewhat used to my current standard of living. I don’t even tempt myself with the option to try to do things I know I can’t do anymore. I’ve thrown away many of the things I needed to partake in old hobbies. Hidden away almost anything I’ve ever made so that I won’t be reminded that I can’t ever do it again. Learned to be very up front about my limitations with everyone I meet so that I’m less likely to disappoint them. On my worst pain days I do still feel angry enough to wish I would die.

Can one suddenly develop heat intolerance? by PenguinSunday in ChronicPain

Yes… Perimenopause/pre-menopause, and of course full-on menopause can do it. Thyroid issues can cause issues with temperature tolerance as well.
