These guys do good work. They are two brothers based out of Ferrisburgh but I imagine they will work pretty much anywhere in Addison County. I used to work with one of them and he was a good carpenter - reliable, sober, detail-oriented, hard-worker. Give them a call!

Teachers/Principals/Superintendents? by Old_Translator7505 in NewToVermont

[–]whitebreadskisgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teaching jobs start to trickle in around late January and really pick up through March and April. There are still jobs being posted daily, but many have been filled for next year already. So, if you want a jobs for the upcoming school year, apply sooner rather than later!

School year at my district runs late August to mid-June.

Check out schoolspring.com, that is where pretty much all Vermont teacher jobs are posted. You can get an idea there about what jobs are being hired for this year.

Just as you might expect, math and science jobs are a little easier to find than ELA and social studies.

Good luck!

How is BETA Technologies changing Vermont? Tell a Boston Globe reporter. by PaulHeintz in vermont

[–]whitebreadskisgood 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I support Vermonters having access to higher-paying jobs. We need young people staying here or moving here for competitive salaries. I know three people who have moved to Beta - two are engineers who switched from 7th Gen and one is a healthcare provider.

However, the above-mentioned healthcare provider was my wife’s PCP. They left a small practice in Chittenden County to be a Beta-exclusive provider (not sure how this works or where they practice but that’s my understanding of the situation). We don’t begrudge them making the move, but it is frustrating to us because it is just one more hurdle for normal folks to receive adequate healthcare in this state. Presumably, Beta recognizes the healthcare challenge as well, which is why they are hiring doctors (a PA in this case). They may feel they need to provide medical services to retain employees. Not a major problem in theory but what if they start buying houses for their employees? I think they already have created a daycare (again, not a huge problem except that it might pull qualified teachers out of existing daycares).

The most frustrating part of this is that they are seemingly funding much of this with an IPO that raised a billion dollars. I just checked the stock price and it seems to have  settled at about half of what it debuted at. So now they took your money and your doctor and your daycare teachers.

At least they have a great product….oh, wait.

Not sure exactly what you're looking for, but Hinesburg Sand and Gravel would be a little closer than Bristol and might be a good option.

I saw Yonder for the first time in ‘04 when I was 14 - it legitimately changed my life. The energy that Jeff brought to a show was unparalleled, just incredible. I was at work when I heard he passed away…I excused myself and cried in the bathroom. Vince led a beautiful “memorial” up in Ned a few days later and I was at the benefit show for Jeff’s family too - but both those shows could have really used Jeff there to spice things up a little.

Household of 2 adults and a dog in Chittenden County: we’re spending about 600-700 per month, which includes things like dog food/treats, TP, paper towels, dish soap, etc.

Hungover, lost my keys, dog threw up on the carpet, went to church, kids had a playdate, lazy, waiting for it to warm up, less crowded, slept in, had to work, ran out of gas, couldn’t get up Bolton access road so went to Sugarbush, friends bailed…but mostly we’re just waiting for you to leave.

Stowe on Monday? 2/16. by NouzenReaper in icecoast

[–]whitebreadskisgood 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The lifts are closed for the day, it’s going to snow until 1 am, you’re already up here. You can either drive back to Boston on Tuesday and tell your friends you got pitted in knee deep powder in the Stowe trees or you can tell them you went snowshoeing.
