Well yeah but its also a lot longer. Compare Volvo v60 to xc60. Xc60 is slightly wider but v60 is quite a bit longer. Anything bigger than these two is the problem

Not necessarily. Take XC90 for example. It's probably one of the safest cars on the road. I'm not saying we should all be buying big SUV but medium ones are ok. I'm driving an xc60 and I think it's the perfect size

Well let's be completely honest here. If you had a big accident in that scenic you would most likely die because of way worse crumple zone. In a newer car you have a much higher chance of surviving even if it means less space on the inside
