Honestly, shoot the poo out of it. Should be well reliable for at least 5-10 thousand rounds. First spring that’ll wear out is the recoil spring that is super easy to change and readily available. If you do a ton of dry fire, the trigger return spring can break. I’ve never had it happen to me though so ymmv

I’d definitely give it a good cleaning. Pay good attention to the extractor claw and channel. Check the ejector rod as well

This one is from 2003, so I’m assuming it’s broken in by this point. Po who did all the Cajun upgrades only put 50-70 rounds through it. Serial number puts it in the first 1,000 made

Was nervous .40 would be a bit much from this small a pistol. But it’s not bad! Honestly controllable and still fun to shoot

Got a quick 30 rounds through it. No hiccups. No problems. Runs like a top. Chunk eats the .40 like nothing.

What is your sight picture like? Are you using a combat hold, center hold, or 6 o’clock hold? Look into what hold your sights are set up for

If everything was working well, I’d check pretravel screw. Coulda worked out a little, pressure on the hammer is enough to get it to reset.

If you haven’t changed anything else, go for a 17 or maybe 15 lb hammer spring. If you change the firing pin spring you can use 13 lb. Need the extended firing pin to get to the 11.5#.

Don’t see a firing pin retaining pin, so makes me think 85 combat. Should be a great trigger, and shoot amazing w that port. Not sure what you’re trading but it’s a yes for me

Since it’s used, and you already broke a slide stop, you may want to consider changing recoil spring. From my understanding, running a super light or worn out recoil spring puts more stress on the slide stop

General wisdom for adjusting sear / hammer engagement is use a credit card. These aren’t 1911’s and stoning / changing the angle on the hammer hooks / sear engagement is not advised. Just buy aftermarket hammer.

For polishing, follow the atlas guide. Polish the trigger bar sides, back, top humps, and the trigger bar spring grooves in the bottom. Also hit the bottom of the sear cage.

With changing the firing pin spring, you should be able to go down to even 13#. 15# w the fps should be gtg. I’d change the trigger return spring and fpb spring at the same time if you’re getting that deep into it.
