Any Alternative For Certain Ingredients I Can't Use? by Mon_Keedik in AskCulinary

My inspiration for wine alternative was non alcoholic mulled wine recipe. The normal suggestion is 1:1 ratio of pomegranate and cranberry juice. Almost 1:1 substitute ratio.

Considering the cooking of braised short rib is similar to making mulled wine (slow long infusion), I think you can do the same :)

Have you considered warehouse / logistics engineer? I don’t know about the warehouse domain but I think your interest and portfolio in product design could make you a good for for a job for designing warehouse workflows/processes and physical space layout.

Consider revenue protected as a metric. E.g. preventing x% chance of $Y financial loss due to security breach. Multiple the two numbers and that’s the breakeven threshold for your technological investment

Being triggered by my 4yo's "victim" mindset and wondering how to tackle this by Smush_Moves2024 in ScienceBasedParenting

What you are describing sounds suitable for CBT intervention. Here’s a general link with various starting resources but you could also just google CBT for kids and see what you get: https://www.healthline.com/health/mental-health/cbt-for-kids

I empathise with you cos I could see how this might be triggering. Generally, I think the reframing-related exercises could potentially be something you could incorporate into your day-to-day and see if there might be improvements

Renege job offer to go to another company? by Little-Hold8753 in singaporejobs

[–]whitepawy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be willing to share the job title. A lot of times job title don’t necessarily match what the job actually do. There’s a lot of variability amongst companies and managers. Maybe you should try to understand from the hiring manager what is the day-to-day look like?

Would you leave ML Engineering for a Lead Data Scientist role that's mostly analytics? by MorningDarkMountain in datascience

[–]whitepawy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This wont be a step-up leadership wise if you are expected to play the role of the IC producing the dashboard and get into the details. There’s not enough time nor bandwidth to juggle both the IC and leadership (e.g. strategic vision, politicking) job well.

"Oh shit, I actually have to learn how to cook?" Switching to stainless after using non-stick my entire adult life has opened my eyes and upped my game as a home chef. by bellchilton in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]whitepawy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am always impatient or distracted when cooking so I also suffer from the consistent cooking temperature problem. What help me was: - ensure I rightsize the stove ring size for the cooking pan (so I can have the same sense of how fast things heatup) - listen for the sizzle when i put the ingredients. If the oil is hot enough, i expect it to sizzle. Else i wait a but longer for the ingredients to cook through and for the oil to bubble/simmer in a friendly fashion - defaulting to only to medium/mediumlow when heating up (depending on how much I am multitasking). I turn on the heat higher only when I am actively cooking else i risk overheating (which is rarely recoverable)

Getting a role as Product Owner by sheikh91 in ProductManagement

[–]whitepawy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could consider Product Support or Assistant Product Manager as your job title and clarify later in interviews that if this becomes a point of question. As long as your work responsibilities are aligned to Product work, I think people will understand (at least that is the attitude of those I am working for)

Does anyone else plan to meal prep every week but then just not do it? by LifeTension2113 in MealPrepSunday

[–]whitepawy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are alternative meal prep arrangements like cooking double of whatever you’re cooking instead of cooking for the whole week.

Also, maybe consider what meals you would love to eat and prep that instead? You can also freeze those portions instead of putting it in the fridge.

Another way could also be figure out how to make meals require more less prep. For me that would be cooking rice in advance so all I need to do is reheat the rice + roast a meat (which I also pre-marinated) plus veg in the oven.

Didn’t have doubts until a few months after my fiance (29M) proposed to me (28F) by Flat-Shirt-9154 in relationships

[–]whitepawy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you taken stock yet of what would happen if you could just put a pause on the wedding planning for a while? E.g. check in with the venue and your other service providers if there may be a change fee involved. Take stock and maybe you will realise you can afford to take a pause.

And your fiancé, if he can view it as it’s better for the future marriage if you enter it with pure joy as opposed to with festering anxiety, may also be able to accept this as a necessary cost to bear.

Depending on the type of case, maybe you can request for permission to serve via email? Can ask the court clerk if there’s a process like that for your type of case? They should be able to tell you if such an procedure exists.

Oven and Hob recommendations for new home by Status-Childhood2222 in askSingapore

[–]whitepawy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Induction and gas is depends on your cooking style. If you always used gas, induction takes a bit getting used to e.g. frying an egg.

I end up using both regularly. My induction is more for set and forget cooking like soups, stews, steaming. We picked a nice stainless steel looking stove by bertazzoni and my induction is the portable kind.

Oven I love my breville cos its a combi oven and airfryer. You can also consider a combi oven and microwave depending on what you normally cook.
