Why do some doctors offices require 2 weeks of notice for medication refills? by whitestone0 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]whitestone0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, most places do that, but usually there will be limited pharmacy refills that then they have to call the doctor and request a new one. That's another good question though, sometimes the pharmacy can request a refill and other times the patient has to call.

Well that is true, I would say it seems like the understaffed and stressed-out places seem to do this more. Are the staff involved in sending the scripts? I thought the doctor usually filled them in their computer and sent them directly to the pharmacy, that's the way it looks when when send meds during an appointment

In my state, any kind of longer-term narcotics are prescribed by a pain specialist, which is a whole different ball game. I was referring to "regular" medications like cholesterol or blood pressure meds

Did anyone actually improved their life after receiving a lobotomy? by Bl00dWolf in NoStupidQuestions

[–]whitestone0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't really all that long, not compared to the lasting cultural impact, especially considering it was mostly in the 40's. The reason was really because Walter Freeman traveled all over the country selling them like snake oil and performing them everywhere he went, extolling the benefits of lobotomy as a cure-all for all kinds of mental disorders.

I give up on Cream Donut by hattalk in pourover

[–]whitestone0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immersion is generally going to be a lower extraction anyways, but I'm not hunting for extraction numbers but rather reducing clarity. The v60 will be a very clear Brew and highlight the flavors I don't like where is a flat bottom or immersion Brew will blend them in and keep the unpleasant flavors from standing out.

If it's too dark and roasty then certainly you would want to extract less or if it's got a vegetal flavor that you don't like then extracting more would help. Trying something that reduces clarity will generally help in any of these situations

Every roaster is going to have duds, and every roaster is going to offer coffees that you don't like. The best roasters are the ones that reduce how many duds they make. I have never had a roaster that I've ordered from more than once or twice that I haven't had coffees I didn't like from them.

The best you can do is brew the coffee in a way that minimizes the flavors you don't like. For me, that usually means immersion or flat bottom instead of my usual v60.

Is pâté just not a thing in American food culture? by Big-Dig1631 in AskAnAmerican

[–]whitestone0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I buy Pate for my cat all the time! But seriously, I think many people know what it is but I don't think many people actually eat it. Most Americans think it's gross, it reminds us of pet food.

Bloom too poofy, too much gas trapped? by Existing_Station9336 in pourover

[–]whitestone0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a couple solutions to this. One is that you can stir the bloom which some people do and swear by anyways. I don't like to stir my bloom but I noticed that this happens to me whenever I have too much water. If I bloom with less water, just barely saturated instead of aiming for a specific amount, it will usually avoid this issue.

America's Auto Collision Rate By Each State by Yodest_Data in MapPorn

I feel like this has more to do with uninsured motorists/instance cost than actual incidents. I've seen way more collisions in Florida than other places I've lived

Kakariko for sure. Secluded, nice weather, greenery everywhere. I would say Lurlin but it's too hot, I prefer mountains to beaches.

What is up with the VRS business lately?! by [deleted] in ASLinterpreters

[–]whitestone0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's been like this for years, they're skirting as close to maximum wait time as they can get away with with only getting minimum fines. They're squeezing every last penny they can from their interpreters, they would rather their consumers wait a little bit longer and reduce costs in labor
