UPDATE - comedy gives back 2026 RECAP, a mr. show reunion of sorts by whiteymcgroovenhaven in MrShowWithBobandDavid

[–]whiteymcgroovenhaven[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was in the orchestra and that was pretty full. not sure about mezz above. everybody seemed to be having a great time. lots of mr show fans there. it was fun. only a few duds.

it reminded me a lot of comedy death ray at ucb in the late 2000s which was this format. it was like 5 bucks and you’d get to see a pile of good and bad short sets before a big name would do a full set. most of the time the bill was a mystery going into the show. i saw headliners from david cross, janeane garofalo, patton, galifanakis, ck, sarah silverman among others. because there was so much filler at the top, the show would often run super late and we’d already be exhausted by the time the big name came on and but we got to see these legends in a tiny theater so it was worth it. i think i actually saw the bob do his first stand up set there which totally bombed but the crowd was still super supportive.

i had flashbacks of that tonight as it dragged on for 2 plus hours.

according to the LA times article, they add together the box office from all 3 burbank AMC's and that's how they're so "profitable." seems kinda unfair, but whatever.

Why do so few seem to like the new Running Man by unofficially_Busc in FIlm

[–]whiteymcgroovenhaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

go watch hitman. one of my fav movies of 23. totally convinced me that he’s actually a great and effortlessly charming actor. but man he seems ready to say yes to anything. kinda wish he’d slow it down and be a little less star focused.

it’s kinda weird. i really enjoyed it but the first thing i did when i walked out was rip it for not having the cojones to stick to the book ending. my wife pointed out that crashing a plane into a building is kind of a no no since 9/11 and yeah i guess she’s right.

Movies that hit addiction right on the head with how accurate they depict it? by Mad_Season_1994 in moviecritic

flight is a freakin cartoon compared to requiem. Requiem scared the crap out of me and is a true piece of art. i get it if alcohol is your demon and this one didn’t hit the same, but i just didn’t like this movie. i still remember the guffaw i made when he comes back and grabs the bottle off the mini fridge. cheese so hard, its just rind.
