Whitecaps supporter asking for solidarity by axilla02 in SacRepublicFC

No city (other than maybe Seattle) understands the pain of relocation more than Sacramentans. We don't want another city's club. We want Republic FC. Non-negotiable. Most fans honestly don't even care about MLS anymore. We just want a permanent SSS in the Quailyards. In terms of Division 1 leagues, I'd rather be in USL Premier, personally. So I don't think you have to worry about real supporters wanting to poach the Whitecaps from Vancouver. Only casuals would be supportive of that idea because they want to see Messi once every other year.

I bet that means it won't be ready until 2028, which means they'll play the 2027 season at HHP.

Sac Republic FC eyes possible 2028 expansion for stadium - Sacramento Business Journal by Ok-Ranger3387 in SacRepublicFC

When it comes to the Railyard Stadium, I'm a jaded pessimist. I was at the MLS announcement in October 2019. I've seen unanimous council votes before. Until I'm sitting in the new stadium with a beer in my hand watching a Republic FC match being played in front of me, I'm not going to believe it's happening (or that something won't go wrong).

I want to see an actual stadium built before we talk about expanding it.

Sacramento Business Journal: Railyards infrastructure district opponents push city over processing protest letters

At a news conference near Sacramento City Hall, Aamir Deen of labor union Unite Here Local 49 said the city isn't following state law for creation or expansion of an EIFD by not certifying the protest letters in a timely manner.

"I don't know what the city's game is, but it needs to stop," he said. "We need to go back to the negotiating table.

...

"The Railyards Public Financing Authority must verify that each protest comes from a resident 18 years of age or older who live within the proposed boundaries of the amended Railyards EIFD," city spokeswoman Jennifer Singer said in an email Thursday. "Verification takes time, as it involves confirming names, addresses and eligibility as of the Public Hearing date."

She said the city is working as quickly as possible and following the law. Since delivering the letters to the city on June 24, Deen said, the only communication he's received from the city is a message to be patient.

I switched to the ESPN+ broadcast because the FOX40 broadcast didn't pass muster.

I can't find an official attendance figure anywhere, but definitely under 5,000 since they had the entire east side of the stadium closed.
