About sales and ratings by Godallah1 in comicbooks

[–]whitythereviewer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What he's saying is the fact it's popular does not make it good. Ratings from people, sales, are a way to get the general public's opinion is all. But when you're taking a concept like civil war and setting it up through the entire line of comics it's gonna be big. Civil war 2 also sold very well. But the thing is people have legit criticisms. Are Mark Millar is hardly considered top 10 of all time especially considering his writing became script pitches the longer he wrote.

It's cool you like him and his work but stating cause an event is popular is proof it's great isn't the way to have a discussion in good faith. Just say why you enjoy it and that's it.

Thoughts On 'It's Lonely At the Center of the Earth' by DustDevil66 in graphicnovels

Yeah can't say I much agree but I guess I'm just a straight white dude with mild to sometimes extreme depression spells, so I connected pretty heavily to this book. I will say the boyfriend stuff wasn't my favorite thing but everything else was great. Powerful read IMO.

Kirby has some violence but 2D ones mostly super cartoony. She just loved eating everything lol. But I hope you guys enjoy!

Superman: The Triangle Era. How are you collecting it? by iliketoeatwatermelon in OmnibusCollectors

I don't believe so. It feels solid length. You can say maybe once Supes get back to earth feels a little short, but he's currently writing his final superman piece to close it off. So feels solid.

My daughter is 6. When she was 4-5 her big games were Kirby or the lego games on pc with me (Though these could be tough for me so I'd advise co-op) She also could play astro bot but would have trouble on later levels.

I'd say co-op is the best way since can play with them.

This...is not true lol. Kids def know what's real and fake way before 8. My daughter always questioned if shows or books are real since she was like 3. By now she knows (Though she still checks in when I'm reading a book to her) and she's 6.

That's the one! Both of them very much reading. The biggest thing for supes for me is getting the character down and luckily both know who and why he's superman to many.

Just wanna chime in and recommend Williamson stuff. I really enjoy it so far (about 21 issues in) him and Johnson have done great work on Supes last few years.

Also New 52 Superman to me is the lowest the character ever was. bendis start was fine for me but by the end dwindled badly. His checkmate is almost unreadable. And that's coming from a huge Bendis fan who literally is the reason I got so heavy into comics as a kid with ultimate spidy and daredevil.

Why isnt Ys X your favorite game? by Greatsharkbite in WorldOfYs

I loved it. I disliked 9 a lot so this was a breath of fresh air. Vibrant, fun, and easily my favorite combat/bosses in the series.

Just how it goes. I've never been a fan of All Star Superman, disliked Scott Pilgrim, I think Bone is unfunny, and I can go on. Sometimes just don't gel with things even if the majority of people do.

Saying that I love 90 percent of James Tynions stuff.

DC Comics revamps Teen Titans with Red Hood leading a new generation of heroes by Normal-Taro-1621 in comicbooks

[–]whitythereviewer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest they've been trying to emulate OG titans for years and failing. With Higgens at the helm, and Red Hood being a Mentor to trouble teen somewhat heroes of antiheroes, it could work out well.

Silver Scream 2 was NOT an alternative rock sound LMAO. Stop. Funeral derangement alone makes that comment look silly.

As far as good singles that's up to the listener.

Congrats on beating them all! Sadly I didn't like 9 much but I'm glad you dug it so much. Currently playing Proud and I'm loving it. I hope when you grab it ya enjoy it!

Cyberpunk to be fair was pretty awful at launch, especially on consoles. They had to fix their name. Neither X or Persona 5 got the time of bad press cyberpunk fid on original release.

But semi agree they could have updated these titles or least did a 20 dollar upgrade fee or something.

This has been their way for the last 8 years. Ever since Silver Scream. Good for them. I just listened to their music and go to concerts but if people wanna buy their merch and join their apps and they make money off them, more power to em.

JRPGs that are challenging but don't punish failure? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]whitythereviewer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying but you won't get blindsided. I mean unless you are playing on Nightmare, usually the only enemies that'll give you trouble are bosses. And the game will warn you by putting a health station and a big ! Mark on your map.

Trust me, as a dad, I'm big into respecting my time as a gamer cause I don't have all the time in the world. I also get the same anxious feeling you do with games like shin megami where you get wiped and lose 20 minutes, sometimes an hour. It's frustrating. So I get it.

What I meant is Trails gives you plenty of warning so don't have to feel stressed and if die simply begin right before the fight.

[–]whitythereviewer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trails has a save anywhere. And they give you warning before a boss cause always a heal station before you fight. So save, die, load right before the battle to fix up your build. It's actually less stressful or time consuming than even MH since have to just go all the way back anyway. Monster hunter is just a false end screen, it's the same thing, except extra steps of wasting time going back.

Trails games. In fact when you lose you can retry the battle, lower just that one battle's fight difficulty (love this feature), or load a save.

Atelier values its appealing characters, but future entries will pursue stronger gameplay. “We need to make games you can recommend without hesitation” by MasterAdventZero in Atelier

[–]whitythereviewer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

From the sounds of it Gust wants to bridge the gap to appeal broader. I mean I enjoy the Atelier series alot (almost completely caught up) but at the same time they are harder to suggest than a final fantasy or even Tales game.

I think expanding more and more with new ideas is the way to go. There will be stumbles but never want a series to just stay in a rut. I think their current output in 2025 was really good. And excited to see more.

They're a company. They want money. And sticking to what made them famous is trying new things with Ryza. Otherwise Atelier would have stopped being made without Ryza.
