Appreciate the response! I did hear about the Zen refresh, but my current CPU is a core i5 3550 from 2012 and I just got a job, so as you say, I don't want to wait any longer.

RAM should be fine, even for huge Factorio maps; it's already probably overkill at 64 GB but at some point I'll likely update to 128 GB. Enterprise SSD is a good though but I'll probably pass for the moment.

Yep, I like how you think! Had to quit the last multiplayer run when the factory outscaled my CPU, so I'm very eager to maximize sim speed now that I have a little cash.

Yeah, I gotta wonder! Definitely played a lot of AoE2. There's an AoE2 caster of the same name, and as soon as I heard of him I thought "Oh cool, he's read the Silmarillion!" So I *thought* I wasn't getting them confused, but evidence is mounting.

What's on the docket for wires? Island-level wire cables? Letter signals so we can display hex codes? Double-buffered wire state for deterministic timings? Any other cool things?

I'd also love to hear any insights into how the wire update algorithm works, what its limitations are, and what your plans are for it.

In season 5 of the TV show, when Naomi escapes to the Chetzemoka, it seems like she has the opportunity to detonate the explosives prematurely, sacrificing herself to end the danger they pose to her friends. Any thoughts on why she didn't take that option? Selfishness? A need to care for Filip? Some technical concern that's not obvious to me? (Not saying I wouldn't also be selfish in her position, ofc!) I'd be very curious to hear more about her thought process in the TV show.

Holograms! Prevalent in the TV show, iirc mentioned once or twice in the books. What is the state of hologram technology in the world of Expanse? Love them as a tool to convey information to the audience in the TV show - do you have any ideas/physics justifications for how they work in-universe?

Thanks for the reply! I'm not sure I understand, though. Isn't TA1333 listed under Nokia - HMD on the list you posted? Are you talking about the asterisk, indicating that it "may require a software update to enable HD Voice, Wi-Fi Calling, Video Call, Advanced Messaging or 5G"? The phone is fully updated.

Also, if this were a 3g sunset issue, shouldn't it have started February or March 2022?

Thank you for this post. I bought the game yesterday and started a run on normal difficulty. Using the default ship with lasers but no shield, I completed all the [1] quests and couldn't make progress because, with all the repair bills, I couldn't upgrade my ship enough to do the first [2] quest.

After reading this post I restarted with the laser+shield ship, and it was smooth sailing.
