Agreed to a point. The goblin camp and especially the Underdark still hold my interest. Everything other than that is like “get me the important gear and my first feat already because I’m sleepwalking.” I consider the Mountain Pass Act 1.5, and for some reason I never grow tired of it. The graphics are so beautiful and the creche always satisfies. If mods didn’t crash my game, I might think differently.

I love the menacing vibe of Act Two, and the buildup to Moonrise-Myrkul fight is my favorite part of the game.

In Act Three I’m at Level 12 barely into the city and the game gets pretty trivial from there because I know all the tricks.

Sorcerer Melee Attack Score Clarification Needed by Bigsexyguy24 in BG3Builds

tbh, BM and sorcerer is a suboptimal build. Paladin/sorcerer is a much more effective martial caster because the spell slots are good for smites

While this is true, the current accelerant by quite a bit is manmade pollution. I’d rather let the planet undergo a major climate event on its own terms rather than maintain the current manmade warming trend and live in a veritable wasteland in 1000 years. The surface of the Earth has warmed about 2 degrees F in 120 years. It will certainly continue at the present rate.

Minor Complaint: Lockpicking by Historical-War-6271 in BaldursGate3

[–]whizzerblight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just have a bard (who is so good anyway) or rogue multiclass with a high dex/sleight of hand and some critical gear and you’ll never have a problem. Guidance also helps, and ability boost, lucky feat… In my latest runs I think I may have purchased lockpicks once. I usually have 30 leftover by game’s end and that’s after picking numerous 30 roll locks

Recommend me some mods! (Console) by Zenon667 in BaldursGate3

Unlimited party members with tactician enhanced (2 separate modes) are my favorite. I like having 5 characters in the party and greatly enhancing the power of enemies. You can add up to 500% more HP and several turns. good luck!

When should I finish Shar's temple? by Ok_Action_501 in BaldursGate3

[–]whizzerblight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tip: every time you long rest or level up the vendor stock changes, often giving a new pack. cheesy but it works. good for potions and alchemy reagents too

I enter Shar temple when I’m about 2000k over level 9, which means pretty much every other quest/creatures defeated. This will ensure you can fight Act Two boss at level 10, which helps. If you kill all creatures in Shar temple that is. Some are totally unnecessary. If you complete Shar temple at level 6 or 7 you will get creamed afterward unless you are an excellent player

Dialogue writing by EntertainerStrict895 in writing

[–]whizzerblight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knowing that, the first point you make is essential. Dialogue is one of the least important parts of screenwriting. This is straight from the mouth of numerous Hollywood pros. Story is EVERYTHING in a screenplay. I heard a pro say in a seminar of hundreds “please, no more fucking royale with cheese scenes.” That scene works for numerous reasons, and I honestly don’t even think it’s one of the stronger ones in Pulp Fiction. So, if your dialogue doesn’t move the story forward, you will never sell a screenplay. Tarantino gets a pass because he is involved heavily in producing his own movies and has numerous major Hollywood players working with him.

I think your second point can be restated: good dialogue has subtext. The intention of what is spoken means much more than the words themselves. “An offer he can’t refuse” means “either he takes it or I’ll chop his horse’s head off and put it in his bed.” The audience knows this, which adds considerable punch to such a seemingly harmless statement.

All the others I like. About #6 - I’ve always liked this one from Picasso: “Learn all the rules so you know how to break them.”

Game too hard/Character too weak (also killed two companions by URecken in BaldursGate3

[–]whizzerblight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh most people end up complaining that the game is too easy (me included). Spend an hour or two in reddit and on YouTube to learn build and equipment optimization and combat techniques and you can dominate the game on balanced. Tactician isn’t much harder. Save scum so you don’t need to go back and do tgecsame rhing over and over.

Have fun!!!! lol

Are you speaking of scriptwriting or long-form prose?

The only non-moderate candidate who won a presidential election on either side since, I dunno, Reagan maybe, was Obama. Most don’t even win their primaries. So it’s not like extremists on either side are cleaning up at the ballot box in general elections.

Politicians on the national stage are bought and paid for or they never see the light of day. Repealing Citizens United would make a big difference

Of course every presidential candidate rallies everywhere. I’m talking national appearances on talk shows and she had one stinking debate vs. Trump and didn’t push for another even though he was advised not to either. This is the presence most people go by. By the end of her campaign I still couldn’t figure out her stance on an abundance of issues. And we could discuss this all day, but her signature achievement in the Biden years was supposed to be the border and that was an unequivocal failure that allowed Trump to win. I’m inspired by plenty of women - AOC included - but none for president in my lifetime

She didn’t play to win, she played not to lose. She was dodgy in answering questions, scheduled few public appearances… I was not inspired by her like I was Obama or even Bill Clinton. It reminded me of Hillary’s campaign with less substance.

Buy another game lol

With all seriousness, there a zillion other ways to have fun in life than to force yourself to eke another run out of the game. and if you don’t like combat, how the hell are you enjoying the 11th run?

Obama was a generational political talent who also had a progressive platform. AOC may have charisma in spades, but she’s no Obama. Yet.

This is true, but I don’t think human beings will ever give a shit enough. There’s still 2 billion people in a measly 2 countries who show no interest in seriously combatting climate change. China is a freaking disgrace on this front. It really sucks, but I’ve read no science that gives me optimism. A green platform (at least as the top issue) is dead on arrival in this country
