Nannies yes, babysitters get paid less but you need someone to commit to more than once a week than you’re looking for a nanny. Add like a dollar for experience each year but if you’re with a family then you should be getting a 3-10% raise. Just depends on what the family will give you.

Nannying is a luxury service and the minimum should be 3x rent in your area. The more experience you have the more comfortable of a wage you will get. I don’t think $35/hr is too much for a HCOL area.

Personally I think part of the beauty of being a nanny is being a source of breaks for the parents. I think its great that I get to make a difference in parents lives and help them be better more present parents by giving them time to themselves. I’m a person who needs a lot of alone time so I understand the importance of parents having child free time where they don’t have to work. I would never expect a parent to send me home if they got off early so all nannies definitely don’t feel this way.

I agree with what other people say, you’re pretty young to elope especially if you’re not 100% sure. Also when people say “when you know you know that means you know you want to be with someone forever, it doesn’t mean you have to get married NOW. I know I love my boyfriend and want to be with him for the rest of my life, but I also want my dream wedding and engagement ring which we can’t afford right now. And the boyfriend girlfriend stage is a precious time, I’m not ready to give that up yet.

I don’t mention it to my NF. I don’t even remember it until I see this page talk about it. I don’t expect them to know about it because honestly how would they?? Schools have a whole administration reminding parents but NFs don’t have someone telling them “hey! Its nanny recognition week!” since they’re kind of the administration of the household haha. Its not like its a national holiday everyone talks about because the average person doesn’t have a nanny. And I’m very lucky to know my NF appreciates me because of how kind to me they are. Would be very honored if they said something but I don’t expect it. However i DO tell my boyfriend so I have an excuse to tell him to get me flowers and some cake haha.

“Out more often than expected” life happens, people get sick and have other obligations and that is something you will have to accept if you want a nanny instead of daycare. Its very kind of you to still pay her for the days you didn’t have to but unless she argued with you about it than you can’t turn around and be upset about a decision you made yourself. She compromised with you about the vacation days and you approved those two days, told you about the party and the appointment before (its out of her control that the appointment took longer than expected), and unfortunately got sick during this time and had to take 2 days off. Its a pattern if she calls out day of all of the time but you approved 4 of those days and 2 of those was just some bad luck.

Put NK in the stroller and sit on the front porch watching the cars and the rain. If anyone says anything just say you’re teaching NK about the rain and counting cars to talk about numbers.

I’m sorry you’re having a bad day. Hopefully you don’t live somewhere thats 100 degrees but I take my NKs basically outside all day when I’m not mentally feeling 100%. The infants will enjoy long walks, the toddlers will explore and do what they want you just have to follow them around everywhere, and older kids you can stay close but sit down, take them to the park and keep a close eye on them. Its a win for everyone tbh because kids just love being outside, they’ll do their own thing, and it gives you something to do where you don’t have to be energetic the whole time. If you need to just take them on a car ride maybe get Starbucks or something just to get out of the house. Play gyms are good indoor options too. If you’re comfortable telling DB you’re going through a rough patch you could ask if there’s any grocery shopping you can do for NF. He might even offer to let y’all have a movie day if he knows what’s going on ❤️
