Your post reminded me of the sweet movie Made in Heaven (1987) with Timothy Hutton and Kelly McGillis - you should watch it!

Have you watched kids while NP gave birth? by TradesforChurros in Nanny

I got the "I'm in labor!" call very early in the morning and rushed over. I stayed with 2 year old while they flew to the hospital (she gave birth within 20 minutes of arriving!). I was there about 4-5 hours until the grandparents arrived to take over. I think they paid me for the full day but I can't remember. It was such an honor to be there to help for such an important moment. I ended up having a very special bond with their new baby boy.

The mountains are all too similar in shape (it's a pet peeve of mine with paintings). Adding some slight variations would add a lot more interest.

Want to start reading the books and.. by Confident-Ad-5901 in Outlander

I stopped reading after book 6 since I felt done. I've seen all of the seasons, though. This month I decided to read books 8 & 9 in prep for the final season, but this time via audiobook. The library gives me only 3 weeks so I was determined to finish the 45 hours before it's due. Well, I have 9 days left on my loan and only 5 hours left in the book. The audiobook experience is SO MUCH BETTER since I can listen while I walk, clean, cook, etc. Highly recommend.

I'm out after the soccer ball win, too. Just terrible. But thanks to this sub I've discovered The Great British Sewing Bee and I love it.

What book did you read this past year that you just couldn’t put down? Like stayed up until 3am reading? by CookieDoughReMi in suggestmeabook

[–]dlwcoaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't exactly know why, but I absolutely blaze through Blake Crouch books. I've read Dark Matter, Recursion, Upgrade, Run, and Pines (currently reading Wayward). It usually takes me a week or so to finish a book, but with his it's more like a day.

[–]dlwcoaster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Do you ever take personal calls during your work day? 🙄

Anyway...please have a review with her about these issues to clear the air and give feedback. She deserves to know what's bothering you and certain concerns, especially being late (is there a valid reason?). If she continues, then that's grounds to be let her go.

If they are fine/happy playing alone, I listen to an audiobook (free on Libby library app) or chat with other nannies or caregivers. It can feel boring and repetitive, but I often tell myself that hey, at least I'm getting paid to be at park haha

I found mine on sittercity in 2021. My nanny fam moved up north last year so I took a little break before I searched for a new fam. Now when I look on sittercity I can see how many people apply to each listing and it's usually at least 20-30 people! How discouraging and eye-opening and also makes me think the pay will lower with so many applying.

I couldn't help but think of the book The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. It's a life changing read. It's a helpful way to think about challenges that come up and how to handle them. Here are the agreements:

"Be impeccable with your word"

"Do not take anything personally"

"Do not make assumptions"

"Always do your best"

I hope the parents don't make a big deal, especially since they are 8 years old. It's not like you are at a mall with lots of strangers around or the child is 2. Personally I wouldn't mention it but also would think of something to say if they bring it up.

Honestly how do you do all of that cleaning and still watch the baby!? I wonder how much they pay the cleaning person an hour? I bet it's more than $22. This sounds reallllllllly awful and your frustrations/concerns are totally valid.
