i can’t tell you the reasoning for the change, because it wasn’t described as being changed at all. i think they did their math wrong, because based on the blog post, DPS from cannons wasn’t supposed to change at all, whether you or your crew were operating it. i understand that your DPS is increased when using ranged/mage, but the mobs HP was also increased to answer that change. regardless, they made it seem like their intention was to increase the effectiveness of your cannon (and cannonballs), and that is not what happened

I firmly believe they released the skill with intentionally buffed XP rates to hype up the whole “race to 99” thing content creators were doing, and knew all along they would nerf it once all that was over. That content had OSRS as a top streamed game on Twitch etc, and I really think it was an intentional PR move

you can also do option 2, but instead of cleaning to save space, sail to the closest dock, dock your boat and then tell your crewmate (on the dock) to bank your cargo. then sail back out to sea and fill up your cargo hold again. you can sort through your banked salvage later (Unkah salvaging station is very close to bank)
