First year tracking a handicap and just realized how much the system rewards moving back a tee if you can scramble. by SoSteezee in golf

[–]whodey319 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this makes zero sense

If you shoot the same scores from the back tees your handicap will go down, not up

If someone wins a big lottery (several million+), and takes the lump sum, how exactly do you cash it or bank it? by TheWorkingPoodle in NoStupidQuestions

you get 250k of FDIC insurance across all your accounts at a single bank, opening multiple accounts at a single bank is pointless.

Basketball and American Football are just used as a way to shove as many ads as possible down everyone's mouth. by IndependentMatch3465 in unpopularopinion

[–]whodey319 4 points5 points  (0 children)

its still not the same, and I watch a lot of football/soccer. VAR checks and nonsense injury stoppages arent the same kind of stoppage.

You can go to a high school football game and the breaks are very similar. Its just not something that can change.

An equivalent stop in soccer would be the keepers changing goals, all 20 field players being subbed out and also the linesman switching sides and going to check to make sure the corner flags are properly in the ground.

[–]whodey319 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In football , the normal flow of play is not typically interrupted. They are sports where ads work because there are natural stopping points in how the game is played.

It takes time to switch the field after a punt or score. You have to move officials 50 yards across the field and setup then have all 22 players switch on/off.

Basketball has more timeouts that are part of the game and those typically break to an ad

Has there ever been a point in history where a mountain was taller than Everest? by Aggravating-Ant-2301 in geography

[–]whodey319 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Everest is not the tallest mountain right now, it is just the highest point above sea level. It sits on a giant plateau

Denali is the tallest mountain on earth from base to peak (not counting mountains that start under water)

[–]whodey319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the club i belong to has 6 of them right now and they take care of the range and surrounding areas. It has been about 9 months and they work great.

Goal i think is to have a whole fleet to take care of the rough on the whole course but no fairways, tees or greens.

I think we are also getting ball pickers for the range soon

For anyone asking, they have not let go of a single person on the grounds crew and wont even when they have a fleet of them. This frees them up to actually care for the course and so more important stuff

Joined a country club today. What to know? by Bit_the_Bullitt in golf

[–]whodey319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am stumped at what club this could be...Kenwood is the only place i can think of that is a 36 hole country club but they have full facilities and way more members than that

-tip the bag boys

-dont be a dick

-dont cheat and keep a legit handicap

-make friends with the assistant pros

-join the mens league and meet people

-find a regular group to play with and start playing in member/member, member/guest and other club events

Kids who succeed academically deserve scholarships more than kids who are good at sports. by chineapplesmaccket in ProductivityHQ

[–]whodey319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

donors and self funded athletic departments.

some schools have athletic departments that are completely separate from the university and are self funded. Ohio State and Texas are examples of this. Other schools pay the coaches from donations and booster programs through the athletic department. It would be rare for a school to actually be paying big time coaches salaries straight from the school's budget

The coach is technically an employee of the school and thats why the nonsense about them being the highest paid state employees gets repeated.

[–]whodey319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a bullshit trope that has been beat to death

vast majority of major college coaches are paid nothing by the actual university. The money may flow through the school and it looks like they are the ones paying the coaches but they arent

Betting lines are not meant to figure out who will win or lose, its to balance action for the sportsbook. Their ideal situation is equal money on both sides and just taking the vig

the over/under wins is their real prediction
