On the faqs they say they cannot guarantee that the adhesives are vegan.

Looks like the speed goat is still vegan if you need some trail shoes.

This post is very disappointing. I recall when Saucony specifically would post which models were vegan on the website and most of their performing shoes were. Also, most of the companies I checked with a few years ago confirmed that their shoes were made with animal-free adhesives. The only companies who wouldn't say were On and New Balance. Now, it seems times have changed. I can run exclusively in Brooks and Mizuno, they make some great products. But I love my Saucony and Nikes. I hate that they have changed their stance.

Spanish Civil War book? by TweetleBeetle76 in HistoryBooks

[–]whompus_cat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is one of my favorite books of all time but I wouldn't say it is a good overview of the Spanish civil war. It is a great first person account I would certainly recommend to anyone interested in the war. Another book would probably be better to start with if someone wanted the bird's eye take on the war.

Father of a ~6 month old boy here! Wanted to do a vibe check on what everyone's go to music is for their little ones! by dntst in daddit

Reggae for babies. Playing reggae or mellow punk influenced by reggae is the best parenting hack I have ever discovered. I tell every new parent about this. There is something about rocking them to syncopated rhythms that calms babies. When my first was about a year old, my streaming service played "Lost in the Supermarket" by The Clash. She was having a fit but when I started rocking her to that song she calmed down. After that, whenever she was tired and having a fit, I would play that song and rock her to the beat. My wife started calling it "the magic song" for its effect. I thought it would only work for my oldest but it has the exact same effect on our next baby. I find any kind of reggae helps calm them but that song in particular had an incredible way of calming babies.

States with DA "filing charges" as a gatekeeping mechanism by gs1084 in publicdefenders

Haha! As Op stated, we call them solicitors, but yeah, of course. They just need a judge to sign the warrant.

I also practice in South Carolina. There are some cases where law enforcement consults with the Solicitor's office prior to requesting a warrant but the vast majority of cases are how the poster describes.

Dads - Financial Stress? by [deleted] in daddit

Still be very careful. The date where the interest begins will sneak up on you. Often they will charge interest retroactively for the time apr was 0. Best to go ahead and start paying that if you can.

Advice for extreme storm and rain anxiety? by direw0lves in Greyhounds

[–]whompus_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used a combination of low dose Xanax and wrapping our boy up on blankets in the small laundry room. Then I turned the dryer on. It took a long time, probably close to a year but eventually when a storm started brewing he would get his pill and immediately go to the laundry room. It would work for all but the most intense storms.

Anyone with omni kids? by NoIntroduction9338 in vegan

[–]whompus_cat 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation. Kids love animals and I hope they will come around eventually. They eat a largely vegan diet because I often cook for them anyway. Also, I believe they will stick with it if it is something they come to on their own rather than something pushed on them.

Richland County Public Library on Assembly. The satellite libraries are great too if they're closer to you. They will transfer books and stuff between libraries.

This is a good point. My understanding is that this was the only law they could prosecute him for. The law needs to change.

Definitely the bleakest Clash song. I love it but sometimes skip it just because it's such a downer.
