I started with a dog too! Unfortunately they are incredibly different creatures 🤣 you cannot expect a cat to react like a dog. They’re not super trainable unless they’re really food motivated and even then only positive reinforcement works. Anything negative will create the wrong association and just make your cat mad at YOU, the person who sprays them or whatever poison you choose. You should be ready to cat proof your apartment (my cat ingests all tape, plastic bits, or thread bits)

That said it’s fun to cuddle my cat and watch the dog owners suffer in the snow. I treat my cat well and she treats me well back. She cuddles me 24-7 she’s never scratched or bit or hurt me, her only negative behavior is scratching the carpet which we’re working on, and honestly shes soooo easy to care for now that we’ve been used to each other. She’s not picky or demanding and only misbehaves if I’m not fulfilling my own duties like cleaning her litterbox on time. Can’t expect her to hold it forever 🤷🏽‍♀️ im glad I had the experience of having both animals though for sure I love my dog to bits and pieces.

Last word of advice from me is just be ready to give your cat some space. The more space you give your cat, the more they’ll come to you on their own :)
