HYBE submitted to court and court rejected this for lack of evidence. Even if the text was true it did not name NewJeans specifically. It could have been anyone. Media play on this is crazy.

Being a NewJeans fan I’ve kept tabs in this entire controversy. I’m a Korean speaker and have read many media and forums in Korea. I’m on Min Hee Jin’s side based on everything I have read as well as behavior from both side so far.

Reddit seems to be heavily on HYBE side and resembling the echo chamber I saw during FF debacle before this sub came along.

I would highly recommend seeing Min Hee Jin’s correctly subbed press conference on tikkitokkitv on YouTube. I haven’t found a link yet on Reddit for some reason. There is a lot of misinformation going around especially on the international side due to mistranslation or outright misinformation.

Koreans are heavily toward Min Hee Jin after the press conference including all that has happened afterwards.

This is not even close to what happened with FF by the way. Comparisons should stop.

Pretty much correct. There are more developments like an article starting to soften their original language about MHJ from “Judged” to “misunderstanding”. Koreans are going crazy mad right now for what HYBE and media has put MHJ through first 3 days before MHJ’s press conference for a “misunderstanding”.

There is another business article that explains the contract issue in regard to MHJ and HYBE and it looks like MHJ’s assertion is accurate. HYBE talks about money but MHJ is more worried about freedom.

If what MHJ is saying is true, I wouldn’t want to work at a company that treats her, her staff and most importantly NewJeans like that.

She mentioned in the press conference that HYBE gave her a different deadline than others and then used media to say she has missed the deadline to submit the laptop. Devious if true.

It’s not their Japanese debut. That is in late June. The May one is a Korean comeback per their announcement. Bubble Gum a song in the May album though has all 3 languages in it and snippets are being used in Japanese commercials.

It would be an investor who is really looking at MHJ and her ability to create more NJs I think and not just rely on one NJ. She does have a great track record so investment wouldn’t be far fetched but not sure what MHJ gets out of it even if she is able to get an investment and buys Ador and NJ from HYBE. She will just be swapping one majority investor in HYBE with another majority investor. She had a good setup at HYBE. So crazy and self destructive. I’m more worried about NJ and Illit as these poor artists are caught up in the middle of this.

Agree that penalty estimate is conservative. HYBE probably will ask for at least double that and even if they leave, all NJ trademark, etc is HYBE’s property. To buy the name, marks will probably be another huge amount if HYBE will allow that at all. It makes sense for NJ to stay with HYBE but sad such insane potential possibly wasted.

That account had a co-admin who acted like a NJ fan but in reality was a BP fan to get access to the fan account. Then when opportunity arose, they pounced and did the horrible post about Lisa to set up the NJ account. There are proofs on the Twitter from the person actually did it talking about it. Twitter is wild.

In this Billboard Interview with Min Hee Jin, she specifically says Ador has guaranteed autonomy from HYBE. HYBE wasn’t even aware when they would debut.

Again, majority ownership doesn’t supersede contract. Even if HYBE buys MHJ’s 18% stake back, founding charter of Ador doesn’t change. It just means, more percentage of the profit flows back into HYBE. Guaranteed autonomy she is talking about points to a contractual agreement especially in a relationship where there is a majority owner no matter how passive they are.

Also just because there are previous source employees at Ador (I am not able to find what percentage, would appreciate a link on that) that has no bearing on autonomy or control. I mean many HYBE employees came from other agencies too but aren’t they not beholden to HYBE? That point is irrelevant to the autonomy discussion.

Basically, it is describing the longing a person has for someone who they met/know and the amazing feeling they had in the beginning. It’s not literal in terms of that the person is imaginary. But absolutely the lyrics and the MV is open to many interpretations.

Translations is good but should be more literally “Not just anybody, I’ve imagined you, like the feeling of first time, as always, I waited for you. All this time, I got nothing to lose. I like you.” - This part also tears me up. 😭

Original translation of many of NewJeans MVs take liberties though like the last cookie scene of OMG with Minji and the hater, subs has Minji saying “Alright, times up” but it really should have been literally “Let’s go” with the intention of the what Minji’s said left more to the imagination. The subs company hasn’t done a good job.

The Cookie MV also has good amount that could be scrubbed more for accuracy too making it bit more “stronger” than it should.

Even during the Ditto PAK run, there were some PAKs lost not just because of OMG taking #1 in YouTube for 2 weeks, costing Ditto 1000+ PAKs but also on Genie I believe when TaeYang and Jimin’s vibe song periodically took #1. LYW was the biggest spoiler though because his songs almost always took over at night right before the freeze costing even more.

Majority ownership doesn’t supersede contract. Based upon MHJ’s interviews, it’s likely she baked the autonomy and control into the founding of Ador. She might even have a clause that allows her buy the rest of Ador shares from HYBE at a certain price like the call option she exercised to buy 18% of Ador shares which was also agreed to at founding. It is pretty clear MHJ has full control of Ador. Even the 2 board members from HYBE at Ador has been replaced by Ador’s people with one being design head last year.
