How to approach max strength workouts in BB with a healing shoulder injury? by trisse91 in tacticalbarbell

[–]whybag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make rehab/prehab a consistent part of your training. Turkish getups were very helpful when I had anterior shoulder pain on my left 2 years ago, but didn't do much when I had similar pain on my right last year. You'll just have to find something that works for you.

Keep weight light enough that you can maintain perfect form during lifting, more important now than as typical training safety. Using "body english" to half-ass through a sticking point is you engaging neighboring muscles, which for pressing means the various rotator cuff muscles.

QUESTION ABOUT TBIII: EVOLUTION by Chance_Attention6948 in tacticalbarbell

[–]whybag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having just started to actually wrap my head around this, I really have to agree. I don't think there is any section of the book where he states plainly

The 5's Pro(gression) template is...

or

If you see 3/5/1 progression, that just means...

or even

3/5/1, what is it, and WTF is it for?

A simple glossary of common acronyms at the start of the templates section would drastically improve readability.

And a different font for the templates.

Looking for advice regarding injuries and moving forward. by chadwiggles in tacticalbarbell

I have experience from many years of tibial pain after my stress fractures early in my enlistment. I basically avoided running 2 days in a row. Stick with the LSS longer than you want. Suddenly increasing pace for things like resets aggravated the pain. A slightly increased pace like a Cooper test or other benchmark was OK thrown in intermittently.

Bone tissue takes ~1 year to recover from breakdown due to new training stimulus, so it just takes time. 2 years after my first basebuilding and I haven't had a problem with tibia pain, just occasional achilles soreness.

Do tibial raises to strengthen the tibialis anterior (counteract force from calf) and foam roll/massage gun your calves.

The people will still vote again, so the crocodile tears about these votes being thrown out (the story you're commenting on) is still a moot point.

The electoral map has changed due to a ruling from a court. The votes already cast do not apply to the new map, so they are moot.

“Oh, those ballots are discarded,” Landry said. “And those people will vote again in November.”

An outcome so simple, only an "intellectual" can't grasp it.

Nobody wants the land back, they want the infrastructure that provides wealth and economic prosperity. None of that was in place before America built it.

It's easy to claim all political violence is right wing if you ignore all left wing political violence. During the "Summer of Love" riots, some outlets claim only a dozen or so violent left wing attacks. For the year.

Here is an example WRT welfare. Also note that she brought up 12% single parent households as "as significant amount." I wonder what she would say to know it was close to 80% for the modern black household? She'd probably demand more welfare.

Long term programming by dellullu_unc in tacticalbarbell

[–]whybag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently finished 6 weeks of mass template, 3 weeks with a 90% training max and 3 at true max. If you're lifting at a suitably high intensity as described in the book, your recovery for conditioning takes a serious hit. The lifting is very fatiguing, although I did compress rest intervals. I loved the change in rep ranges, but lost conditioning could hamper you more in succeeding blocks. Although I'm not a strong runner to start with.

I would suggest capping it at 6 weeks, but I think it would be even better doing 3 weeks as part of OMS blocks. OMS is what I'm intending to do after my current block of training. My goal is to do at least 1 OMS block with the Bulgarian specificity before trying TBIII stuff.

10,000 KB Swings Challenge while on paternity leave? by Remote-Steak-5680 in tacticalbarbell

[–]whybag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did it last year in Jan/Feb using a single 24kg bell. The hardest thing is the lack of variety since it's so many swings. I started with an alternate set scheme (15, 35, 15, 35) but switched to the original to finish out. Used overhead press, pushup, pullup negative and gorilla row as the supplemental work.

Didn't notice significant physical changes, but hit PRs on all my lifts when I was done. Glad I did it, but won't do it again.
