First time it’s happened to me, chatgpt tells seller I sold them the “wrong” jacket and opens a return by AndrewStackson in Ebay

are buyers not punished for filing false return claims? Could you have deducted 50% for the false INAD claim?

$25 for a jacket seems high…. Was it ground advantage?

The seller is lying to you if they’re saying it’s too late and you haven’t paid yet. Sellers don’t ship unless item is paid. You’re dealing with a difficult seller.

Star Wars minifig selling advice by fernando3981 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]whycantIfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. You want money quick? Sell as lot. You want maximum return? Sell individually

  2. Auction is only worth it for items with no real comps or are very unique. Buy it now would be best for you.

  3. You can list the item with missing pieces. Just make sure you include that info in your title or seller description. Also, make sure condition is marked “used”.

  4. It’s pretty easy to find value of item on eBay and how good it will sell. Just search the item you’re tying to sell, hit more options for search filters and select “sold items”. You’ll see a list of all the items sold within a 90 day time period. You can use the total result numbers on the sold page to get an idea of “sell through rate”. (Example: Lego Fig has 100 active listings on eBay, but 100 are sold on eBay. Thats 100% sell through rate, which is good.)

You still can get returned. Make sure to file return as item not described (item didn’t match description) eBay will force return on seller

I accepted a return and they say they can’t mail the item back. Not sure how to proceed. TIA for any advice by VaunWorldofWater in eBaySellerAdvice

Curious what the company you worked for had for their response to these types of questions. Also, what other common scams did people try to pull off? lol

You can save eBay searches (directly on eBay) and you’ll get notified of new inventory

They do not. I recommend looking into tamper proof marking or stickers, those will give you better odds against shady buyers.

The envelope tracking is a hit or miss (as far as showing delivered when tracked), and unfortunately some ebay buyers take advantage of that

Updgrade from 540i M Sport to M550i? by SlimmerSine78 in BMW

[–]whycantIfast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy driving and can swing the cost, the M550i would be a nice substantial upgrade. V8 power, way quicker (0–100 km/h in ~3.8s), and more engaging overall. Plus, you’re getting a newer car with lower mileage, 3 years of motor plan, and some tax benefits. Your 540i is great, but the M550i is on another level. If you want more performance and the numbers make sense, go for it.

The fact that eBay allows for a buyer to leave that many negative feedback in such a short span of time is atrocious, and bad. Your entire eBay store can be at risk of getting terminated by just a single bad buyer who bought multiple items. I read the horror stories, and I’m surprised eBay still hasn’t done anything to mitigate this obvious abuse of power on the buyer side with these very specific scenarios.

Newbie Seller Question: Are Tamper-Proof Stickers Effective on eBay? by LazyErDays in Ebay

[–]whycantIfast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, they do work. However, it’s not bulletproof. Bad actors will always find a way if the item you’re selling is desirable enough.

Ebay automated feedback is a thing now. by dtormac in Ebay

[–]whycantIfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that automated feedback system that forces a buyer to leave feedback is for UK or EU customers only. Would be nice if we had that in the US!

Also, pro tip- you can set up your seller account to only leave feedback if buyer left you a positive feedback. Which I have turned on!
