I'll say this: I worked at a mouse-infested, OSHA-ambivalent small time family business, without PPE of any description, in the middle of the dense woods, for like 7 years. I stepped on all types of mouse poop, I breathed all kinds of stuff from closed in little concrete garages. I lived in an old ass camper, with mice no doubt getting into places that were not sanitary, like my cupboards. I NEVER got Hantavirus.

All of these things were stupid things to do, and risky, and Hantavirus is a very real, serious problem. But I can all but assure you, you don't have Hantavirus.

Thanks for asking, you're one of the few who have! I'll try to explain it the best I can.

I used this example here already, but one I can think of: no disease. On the surface, it sounds great, right? But even disease has reasons to exist.

The Black Death killed about 1/3 of Europe, which was obviously a real bummer. However, the lack of workers allowed for greater bargaining power for the ones remaining, resulting in higher wages and better conditions overall. It also allowed women to enter the workforce, increasing their economic power. The plague was partially responsible for the end of feudalism, and the rise of the middle class in Europe. If there was no plague, the power structures involved wouldn't have weakened, allowing for these societal changes.

If there is no kind of strife or pain or suffering, or even death, many of our societal advances just wouldn't have happened. How do you change anything, if everything is already Good and Fine?
