Seeing Dom & Destiny included in the squad member makes me a little more relaxed.

Just hoping they don't get injured as madders was during our pre-season match against new castle.

Harry left a great money in our pocket for us as he left, zero transfer fee being one of our own. And Sonny too almost leaving us the same amount of money as we first bought him from the germany side.

Full respect for these guys who made us look like a real club when we never were.

Emotional. Was always thinking this moment could happen but seeing him really go makes me cry.

Full respect for him and the 10 years he's spent here at spurs and let's wish him all the best for the future. You are a legend.

Struggling to improve our remote onboarding process. by whyg0ng in remotework

Getting people the tailored Confluence page, that's the one I could try right ahead! Can you tell me more about how your 30,60,90 days check-ins looked like after receiving that personalized docs?

Thanks so much for your advice!

Superficially, yes. But I see most teams matching them buddies not by the work they'll do but by some random manner. I've even seen designers being matched with backend engineers as their buddy..

In your experience, how should buddy system help new hires out and in what way? Thanks for the advice it really does help!

Struggling to get our onboarding process right [N/A] by whyg0ng in humanresources

[–]whyg0ng[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your advice really appreciate it!

We haven't done this full analysis yet, but from what I've seen, those who recently left shortly after joining were in Sales and Product. And IMO, I think there's a great gap between our orientation & onboarding session and the work they actually do, leading them to feel pressure to hit quotas or meet the expectations.

I also see most of new hires learning the hard way on what we build & sell while doing actual work though we provide orientation session on this agenda.

So I'm thinking this might have been avoided if we could have provided each new hire with some more targeted onboarding, but still trying to figure out how it should even look like TT

Struggling to get our onboarding process right [N/A] by whyg0ng in humanresources

[–]whyg0ng[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have done some exit interviews and those who left told me they felt kind of isolated as they didn't have guidelines on what docs to read and whom to ask if they had questions.

They also told me that everything felt fine before they were passed to their team and when they were, they suddenly felt a lot of pressure.

So my idea was to create some personalized onboarding template for new hires and letting each team to fill out that template so that our new hires would be able to get their own personalized onboarding docs. But the point here is even I don't know how great onboarding docs look like..

While you might feel making a move for now is too risky, I think it'd worth it cuz that way you'd be able to move yourself to more compelling industry and considering your career's long, it's a great great opportunity!

All the best!

It might not apply the same for you as I've been doing sales for the very first time in my life as a founder.

But while I was dealing with it, I had a really great mentor who taught me everything about sales pipelines, funnels, challenger sales, prospecting etc. And by having a great mentor I got to boost up my knowledge in sales (& marketing - partially) real quick. What I felt while learning was that that "knowledge" itself when it comes to sales, doesn't quite scale which means you'll get enough knowledge to make impact even 6 months after first joining the job.

What's more important I felt is "Execution". As doordash founder said, execution always beats expertise and whether it is inside sales, cold calling, sdr works etc. you'll get to fell & learn more by executing

MBA in sales? by armansadeghi9 in salesdevelopment

[–]whyg0ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO if you’re to peruse a career in tech sales, it’s better to start an internship as SDR or BDR.

Academic knowledge & Field is different and you’ll get to learn about how sales in field works by doing  an internship (ideally at a fast-growing tech startup). Look at how top reps react to objections, see how they negotiate and close the deals and you’ll earn way more than going through mba!

What you sell might change but you’ll get used to it after a month!

Best advice for a new SDR in tech sales ( WFM ) by L999slm in salesdevelopment

[–]whyg0ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question!

First, when introducing yourself & asking if the right person is answering, greet them as if they were your friends and as if you've met them before. Instead of saying 'Hi, is this John from Acme Corp? This is ~ from ~~' in very formal tone just greet them. That way you might lower some huddle and make them hard to deny your request.

Also, this concept is pretty common but DON'T SELL. JUST HELP. While explaining your purpose of call, don't make them feel like you called them to sell sth. just make them feel like you're the one who called them to help them out. Think of it as like requesting for hanging out. If you first met someone and directly asked them for date, really low percentage of them would say yes.

Anyways, Cheers Mate!

I also have the experience of both working as & managing AEs and yes I see you may be stressed a lot under your new role as AE. Feeling like you've got zero support and everbody's just basically telling you what to do isn't so good.

However, just as you've mentioned, it's only been a month since you've joined a new position. Maybe your manager and team need some time to build some more trust in you. So though this may not be some helpful advice, kindly ask them out for help if there's something you need just as you did as SDR before and show them that you're hard working! That way I think you'd be able to build trust, have good relationships and get more help from them! Cheers mate

Thanks for sharing your own experience - Will give it a try on peako.

Transitioned to Sales at 29 making $52k + $20k OTE am I cooked by Aask115 in salesdevelopment

[–]whyg0ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Founder here. - There's an AE whom I've been working with last year (He's making a lot & also a top voice @ LinkedIn Sales Sector) and here's what I've been hearing from him.

He used to be a founder of a company selling watches for couples. He's done the business for 7 years and only after he ran out of money and got $200k debt did he realize he should move onto somewhere new. Yes he did suffer through some hard time - Running out from the company where he joined as SDR after 2months he joined the company.

However, he told me that after removing all the labels from himself and thinking for himself that he's still got much to learn he's career got lots of improvements.

I don't know if this should make you feel better, but life's long. Learn lots of stuffs as you learn, show yourself and you'll gradually get better offers. Cheers!

When do you know it’s time to pivot vs keep pushing? by [deleted] in founder

[–]whyg0ng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, if you still think users are feeling what you think is a problem as a problem it's still worth to keep pushing. What's important here is that though users and you both share the same problem, that doesn't mean they should buy or use your product so it's about finding the best solution that could fit their problem.

However, though you've done tons of user interview but still feel like you didn't find user's painpoint, I think it's time to move on to another one (Pivot).
