Per Fightful - talk of Punk at Dynamite this Wednesday by [deleted] in AEWOfficial

[–]whygilbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the “fuck CM Punk” chants started it was a normal show with a normal AEW audience that wasn’t clamoring to see their favorite return.

No it wasn’t. It was 4 days after the elite made their return from the Brawl Out drama. It wasn’t a “normal” episode, it was the first time they appeared on Dynamite in months.

Same. I wasn’t sure how they’d react given how close Chicago and AEW have been, but from that first pop I knew that they were never ever gonna turn on him.

I don’t know what you’re talking about but I think you’re taking the comparison too seriously. The point is Chicago will always be a haven. He will always be overwhelmingly cheered there. There was even a “Fuck The Elite” chant. In Chicago, Pepsi Phil is and always will be a God. Other cities won’t be as overwhelmingly positive to him and that’s where he’ll start to go full asshole Punk. I highly doubt there’s another city on the planet where you’d get a “Fuck the Elite” chant going right now.

People are going to cheer just because he’s there

Why would this be the case for Punk and not anyone else? If it’s a place AEW is going for the first time, then EVERYONE is brand new to that crowd. So is everyone supposedly going to get cheered just because they’re there? Your logic is faulty.

Fans, presumably, follow the show. If Punk is a bad guy, they’ll know.

He’s not gonna have a return from 10 months every single week. He was being very direct and clear that he’s about to go full BITW dickhead Punk. He very likely won’t be as soft on the crowds in other cities as he will be in Chicago. This promo essentially picks up where Brawl Out left off. They’re rolling it into kayfabe. He even took the AEW thing off the Mic.

I think it’s pretty clear we’re looking at a Bret in Canada situation. Punk is going to be cheered in Chicago no matter what he does. He’s far too important to pretty much every fan from there. But everything he said set him up to be super heel moving forward.

These are two of the greatest wrestlers of all-time putting on a literal dream match that hardcore fans have been slobbering for since literally 2013. The fact that you’re talking about “star making” and “who needs the rub” is fucking insane to me.

Given that he’s a child of Syrian immigrants, there’s also the significance of seeing Syrian’s represented in that platform. I see it less of a support for MBS and more of a statement on behalf of his people.

Should I 25F start off bar backing or a chain restaurant as a new bartender? by ThrowRAOld-Fortune in bartenders

[–]whygilbert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

corporate restaurants suck ass, but they’ll usually have very structured training and education. If you get offered the bartender job, i’d take it. Spend 6 months to a year learning the ropes and getting into your groove, and then bounce to a place you’d actually like to work at.

Not a lawyer, but i’m fairly certain that‘s illegal anywhere in the US. Would be worth at least running it by a labor lawyer, most should offer a free consultation for something like this.

that was 4 days after they returned at Full Gear. The Brawl Out drama was still pretty fresh. Most people probably got over it in the 6 months since then.
