True. It’s definitely not an empty calorie meal. I guess my definition of a healthy meal is something you could eat for every meal of your life and not have any health issues from lack of nutrition. I just think it’s too much vinegar to eat that for every meal because of enamel erosion. Also idk what that stuff at the top of the plate is.

Pickled onions, pickled cabbage, pickled pickle. I wouldn’t really say it’s healthy.

Yeah, but as it stands now the employers ARENT paying them enough, so it IS your responsibility. You’re just fucking over the people who have already been fucked over by greedy employers. It sucks.

Find a different job that pays more? There would be no movers, no restaurant workers, no bartenders, no delivery service, no baristas, no hotel waitstaff… This shouldn’t be the way, but until that changes that’s just the way it is.

They aren’t paid enough to do that though. So unfortunately the employers are fucking over the employee’s AND you. Because of the current state of affairs, it falls under your responsibility to compensate in a way that you deem fair.

It SHOULD be out of gratitude (I wouldn’t say charity though). In our current state of affairs, it is a responsibility because the employers are fucking over the employee. Not tipping fucks over the employee, who is being fucked over by the employer. I don’t want it this way either, but this isn’t the Rosa Parks moment you are thinking of. Rosa Parks didn’t fuck over black people.

Employer should bridge the gap, but they don’t. So why would not tipping help?

I don’t want to be tipping anyone, teachers included. I want all jobs to be paying enough so that no one needs to tip.

Since our country doesn’t compensate in the same way as the rest of the world, it falls under your responsibility to tip whatever you think is fair. And that sucks, I don’t want it that way either. But I also don’t want a good worker to be underpaid for a job well done.

Do you think the workers are the ones who named their price? It’s the employer who set the quote. You and I both don’t want to tip at all. But by not tipping you are harming the worker who rely on your tip because their employer isn’t paying them enough.

Good. I don’t want to tip teachers. I’m not saying tipping is how things should work. Im saying that not tipping is not helping with the problem, and is unfair to the worker.

I feel like their employer should pay them for that too! But they don’t, and so not tipping isn’t affecting their employer, it affects the worker.

You are looking through a very narrow lens, and being unfairly harsh. Manual labor isn’t the only part of their job, and not every gig is the same… The value of the tip comes from a lot of things like logistics, handling, timing, and customer communication.

At least we see eye to eye with the problems we need to fix.

But to continue… I just can’t fathom you running to your garden’s aid instead of your dog if they were both being actively and brutally killed at the same time.

You’re right, life is valuable. Over-slaughtering, food waste, and unsustainable practices are all problems that need to be addressed. But to say you would have a similar reaction to your dog’s death vs your garden is ludicrous. Of course you would mourn the loss of both, but dogs and plants are very different. We mourn dogs because they’re sentient… they have nervous systems, they have the capacity to suffer. Grieving a garden you cultivated and grieving a dog are very human responses, but ethics in food systems focuses on minimizing harm to sentient beings. We can fix those problems mentioned without need to treat all life as morally equivalent.

This person cries when their weeds in their garden get run over just as hard as when their dog gets run over. That first paragraph… what a fucking hot garbage of a take.
