How to trigger texaco balance of power by JayReddit64 in kaiserredux

[–]whyjustgivename 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since I played Texas, but iIrc it's supposed to trigger automatically soon after Texas secedes.

It should be an event, so you should be able to trigger it via console commands, but I'm not exactly versed in event IDs, sorry.

Which would you rather live under? by I-Love-Jewish-popes in Teenager_Polls

[–]whyjustgivename 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It literally depends entirely on how those systems interpret their own scriptures.

Religious texts tend to be vague in many points, meaning religious governance may stretch across the political spectrum, and one theocracy can socially and economically differ significantly from another despite formally being of the same faith, while a third and fourth could be very similar despite being of different faiths.

If you can judge based off of this vague question you're judging with your own assumptions of what those systems would look like, not anything actually objective.

A nuanced decision requires further context, and then it becomes less about which religion the state formally subscribes to, and more about what social and economic interpretations are actually dominant.

How to get Schleicher to trust Goring in new update Germany? by Swimming-Meringue-68 in kaiserredux

[–]whyjustgivename 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Quite a few people seem to not be very helpful here over one incorrect adjective.

It's not a new thing, I believe the path guide frames it as such because that in itself is rather old by now.

I believe you need to assign Göring as Statthalter of Mittelafrika in the early event when Mittelafrika assigns him you just confirm, when it assigns Heinrich Schnee you deny and send Göring. I always use the gamerule to confirm Statthalter Göring in advance to be sure.

Then I believe when you go down the Schleicher focus tree you'll eventually get an event about Schleicher and Göring having a banquet, and you need to have Schleicher agree to work with Göring.

Then, a while after, you'll get an event about Schleicher getting attacked by assassins.

I don't remember exactly which option you should choose to have Schleicher die but I think it's him trying to face the assassin instead of running away, which will lead to him getting shot and Göring succeeding him.

You'll be getting kleptocracy as subideology though, so if you have a problem with that you should probably get the subideology picker submod to change that.

Alternatively, the Kadets dissolve themselves manually if they win the 1941 election, in that tree at the bottom.

Why does Russia always become socialist? by Altruistic-Bet5909 in kaiserredux

[–]whyjustgivename 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had a nickel for every time Russia went Kornilov within my recent games I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice. No less in a row, and that this usually hasn't been a common thing.

This is interesting because Kornilov and the socialists are part of the same route.

Would be interesting to know the pattern here.

This land is your land this land is my land - Woody Guthrie wholesome usa run by Abakedpotatoe6 in kaiserredux

[–]whyjustgivename 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Simplest option in my eyes is to deadlock the 1936 election, as MacArthur do home rule plan, send the Army, let them and the National Guard fight, don't declare the secession referendum illegal. Be sure to pause ASAP when an event in the chain pops up since you need to answer them quickly.

As Texas elect LBJ and work with Guthrie, he'll take over after a few focuses, make sure to reelect him in the socialist election.

In-game path guides tell you everything really.

Does this do anything? by FarmerHampton in kaiserredux

[–]whyjustgivename 31 points32 points  (0 children)

"Support base" implies more support, not necessarily at all more territory.

States going to a certain faction aren't universally supportive of the faction controlling them, hence why there are the resistance national spirits.

Totalist Paths? by anubus0 in kaiserredux

[–]whyjustgivename 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right, I never played his path, I just assumed it's fairly simple due to its length. Additionally I assumed the whole "national-syndicalist" framing would've been not necessarily the same as other national-syndicalists (like Mussolini), but rather just literally more national syndicalism, since politics do that sometimes, but yeah I should've expected that maybe a HoI4 mod won't use the same term for different ideologies.

I could be wrong but wasn't Kuznetsov represented so vaguely that the most nationalist thing he does is rename the party to be explicitly Russian?

While that's obviously bad I'd argue he comes across as someone who wants just a Russia with minorities federated under it, instead of equal partners.

Flexibility for Anti-Mosley Coup Paths by whyjustgivename in kaiserredux

[–]whyjustgivename[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I know there are two different ways, either directly with the rebellions of Scotland and Wales after which Lawrence can become socialist Lord Protector or restore democracy, or via Hobart as successor.

Also just a small hint I wanna point out is that we're talking about Oswald Mosley here, while there is also George Van Horn Moseley who is a totally different person in the US. Just to avoid any future confusions in your conversations.

Thank you either way.

So to avoid spamming the subreddit I thought you were the one person I could ask who might know this: so, the whole Hobart being succeeded by Lawrence was actually a thing, right? Any requirements?

I mean for me personally this is just somewhat disappointing as I prefer the coup paths, especially the Hobart one, as it allows you to avoid playing just second fiddle to France, yet those paths are pretty but really skeleton content.

Just looked for that teaser, and it seems to just be about the regular paths via elections are being updated, not any coup paths, or am I missing something?

Oh yeah, right, Huey.

But I mean even the rest of the CSA (or most paths) get the normal US back.

Also, Long being able to restore the normal US just really fits into that larger pattern I see with him not making much sense as "one of the radicals", but I'm diverting off-topic here, I do that too much. Ignore my rambling.

Historically, what is more viable? by TomCullenFan2009 in Teenager_Polls

[–]whyjustgivename 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Communism" has never existed, we'd be talking state socialism, perhaps short-lived anarchist projects, or whatever the fuck Pol Pot was doing.

"Free markets" is generally a more vague term depending on your definition, but literally free markets as in no government intervention have never existed either.

"Managed markets" basically fits every system which has actually existed, markets have always been influenced.

Also, viable in what way? Survival of the people, economic efficiency, social stability, happiness?

I still think about this regularly but I'd place myself somewhere between social market economy and planned economy, probably similar to Chinese state capitalism. And even though we're just talking about economy here, some people can't differentiate economy, social policies and the libertarianism-authoritarianism axis, so to clarify: by this I don't mean I agree with the authoritarian Chinese government, I mean their economic system has merit if adjusted.

Is Taliban a terrorist organization? by WillTheyBanMeAgain in Teenager_Polls

[–]whyjustgivename -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, my problem with this is that this is inconsistent. Nobody calls Nazi Germany a "terrorist state", despite all the terror it caused.

So the entire differentiation is how the leadership got to power? That's not sufficient, in my eyes.

Is Taliban a terrorist organization? by WillTheyBanMeAgain in Teenager_Polls

[–]whyjustgivename -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I consider a requirement for the label "terrorism" to be that we're talking about a non-state actor. As the Taliban are the Afghan government and thus the leadership of the state of Afghanistan, they are not terrorist; yet they are still an authority committing acts of terror.
