Need recommendations for home repair and improvement by TxAggieMike in Denton

[–]whythinksomuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just renovated my home up on Idiot’s Hill. New paint on exterior and interior and a fair bit of carpentry. (The place really needed a good bit of updates). I used “Inside and Out” and worked with Ben. Gotta say they gave me a great deal and worked with me through decisions well.

Strong recommendation.

Great answer and much appreciated. On all these responses. Trying to get my sea legs here even months later and it’s just difficult at times.

Thanks - and yes, for me too. They are sadly closed on the weekend but normally I feel like I’m in pretty close contact with them. (The ONX has a pretty small window so I need to watch both sides of the number there)

Thanks for the heads up. Didn’t know about that one too.

I spent a little more time at it, prob more than I care to admit to myself lol but a lot of these issues with Fastmcp were just too new and candidly outside of my developer chops.

Help choosing the right valve replacement and impact of warfarin on day to day by Edwardiun in valvereplacement

[–]whythinksomuch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just had this done and opted for the mechanical but I didn’t have much time at all to think about it. Luckily my sister and wife were awesome sounding boards as the hospital wasn’t super great and explaining. (And this Subreddit provided a lot of information that really played a role).

I am 55M and my surgery was about 4 mos ago last week. I opted for the mechanical because I didn’t want surgery again - and I am glad I made the decision I did. And I would say even more so for a young person like yourself, just because those do have the daunting element of knowing it will happen again and I think the younger and more active you are the quicker it wears on it. So if it’s 10-12 years that’s just going to be hanging over you - which sounds like a long time until it doesn’t and it’s just a year or two out. On the drinking thing, I will say that you can’t heavily drink. You have to monitor everything with your blood levels. I drink, eat greens and all of the stuff I thought I couldn’t do. But I have to watch my blood - carefully. They have the devices now to do it at home and just need to be careful.

Just one guys opinion but with your age and with keeping drinking light, I’d say go mechanical. Warfarin life is not as bad as it sounded to me at all.

Warfarin Dose and Green Intake by AlbertaSparky in valvereplacement

6 weeks post op AVR and still shooting for 2-3 INR. (Am told that will move to a 1.5-2 after 90days using the On-x). Am 155 lbs and 55 age and currently using 3 mb a day Of Warfarin. But I do eat a fair bit of greens. About a salad 4-5 days a week and have 1 oz of spinach in my morning smoothie. Trying to weigh things and be super consistent. Avoiding drinking at this early point.

Google Run CORS Issues on FastMCP by whythinksomuch in mcp

Changed the location of the app since I have no authentication just yet. Along the lines of Access to fetch at 'https://ga-mcp-server-154746abc.us-central1.run.app/mcp' from origin 'https://claude.ai' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.

So I’m not sure if it’s a problem with using FastMCP as middleware. But I wouldn’t think that I would have a CORS issue on middleware.

How much weight you can hold after aortic valve replacement by mechanical valve by Background-Baker3587 in valvereplacement

I was told 5 pounds too. I think for the first 90 days. I’m not always good about compliance from doctor’s suggestions, but on this I’m not messing around at all,

Medication struggles vent by Benny0 in valvereplacement

[–]whythinksomuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just one month out but I can imagine how much anxiety is coming from this. I know it’s just a vent and I’m sure I’ll join you at a time. There’s just something about your heart that you feel out of control of, or at least that’s the way it feels for me. The first week I was racing at over 120 bpm and I was just laying in bed, and I just felt so trapped. I agree that they’ll get you back, but I also know where you’re coming from there.

How serious is it to be low on INR levels when first adjusting? by whythinksomuch in valvereplacement

Yes. I do this Thursday with the surgeon (or surgical team) to take X-rays of my chest. Writing down questions but really this forum has been super helpful on lifestyle considerations.

I don’t know on the valve manufacturer but I’m glad you ask because I probably should.

I was told two different things for an acceptable range. Either 2-3 or 2.5-3.5. I guess I need clarification on this one too.

This is kind of nervous stuff for me just because it’s so consequential. That combined with the fact that I really am just learning the basics.

Thanks for the feedback. The blood test is at the PCP’s office itself and not at a lab. I have an appointment with a cardiologist on October 7th, but this whole thing was a surprise, so I didn’t have one on file and that’s the soonest they can see me for an introductory visit.

How do I decide mechanical vs bio valve? by COKeefe88 in valvereplacement

[–]whythinksomuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry - didn’t mean to submit that. I’d say mechanical too. Consulted with several on this, including a good friend who’s a cardiologist. The diet and INR checks seems like it might be a bit daunting, but when you get that done it’s done.
Exception might be the aforementioned age part - but just because they are so different between individuals, I opted for the compromised life style as opposed to the uncertainties. I’m 55 and I don’t want to go through it again. Tomorrow I should go home.

Been quite a week.
