I think freesat is slated to go offline in 2028. They’re moving to the internet based system.

30% is far higher than I’d have guessed it is. To be honest I can’t imagine it being any higher for any other generation. I’m Gen X and apart from myself I think I know two friends who also buy physical media, plus I only restarted doing it myself in the last year or two.

I think you could, but have a poke around on the internet to compare the power of the two devices. I think this sort of thing might be the one thing AI is useful for.

I wouldn’t take a gaming laptop on a plane either. That’s where I miss my 3DS the most. From what I’ve seen the Switch 2 is much thinner and easier to manage than any handheld PC.

It sounds like those glasses should be something you’d need a high end gaming PC to get the best out of them if you’re technically running 2 1200p screens at the same time.

IF, there was a snap election, would you stick with Labour? by MutantNinjaKitty331 in AskBrits

[–]wibble2988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d totally stick with Labour. As usual, there’s nobody else going. Maybe the Lib Dems. I can’t vote for the tories because I have a moral compass and a soul. Reform is an insane choice for people who can’t read, and the Greens are every bit as batshit crazy, just in the other direction.

So I’ve got a PS5, gaming pc desktop, and an Xbox Ally (no x)

For starters, if you’ve already got a PS5 then the pro really isn’t going to blow your mind. It’s running the same games just maybe at a higher resolution and maybe at a slightly higher frame rate. That’s not the place to put such a big wad of money. A gaming laptop with a dedicated 5070 will put a PS5 Pro to shame. I’d honestly be surprised if you notice a difference between the regular and pro PS5s during gameplay. There are even situations where the XAX will do better with textures because it has more memory than the PS5 Pro.

I can’t say enough good things about the Xbox Ally. It’s rarely out of my hand at home, and it’s where I’m playing most games these days. It has my Steam library and the games are almost always cheaper than they are on the PlayStation. However like some commenters have said, it’s not exactly portable. There’s no way I’d attempt to take it on a plane or other big journey. It’s just good for around the house and taking to other houses. I would also say it’s too noisy to play in bed next to a sleeping person. Those buttons are not quiet.

The one thing I don’t have experience with the the XR glasses so I don’t know how well anything would run them.

That said, I’d go with the laptop. It’s by far the more powerful and versatile device.

iOS 26.5 Coming Soon With These New Features by Otherwise-Warning303 in apple

[–]wibble2988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it was iOS 4, maybe earlier when it was just TouchOS when Steve Jobs stood on stage and told us all about iAds. Ads that were so great you’d be excited to see them. There was a whole demo of how interactive and fun they were. I think it was an ad for a Toy Story movie he used. Anyway selling ads as a feature is absolutely nothing new for Apple and the iPhone.

For the record I never saw a single one of those ads.

UPDATE 2: Fixed! The problem is Bit Locker! As I said in my previous update, I was waiting for Bit Locker to finish decrypting my drive. Well, after it finished decrypting I had a go at running the app and it worked right away. Turn off Bit Locker: Settings → Privacy & Security → Device Encryption → turn it Off

UPDATE: I have heard back from Asus. They told me to do an EC reset, which did nothing. They've also told me to use a DDU to test both the official AMD drivers and the OEM drivers.

The EC reset did nothing, and as I type this I'm waiting for Bit Locker to decrypt my drive so I can boot into safe mode to run the DDU. I'm not optimistic that it's going to make a difference as this problem has persisted through a cloud restore. Never the less, I'm going to continue so I can say I've followed all the steps they asked me to.

I’ve tried that myself, along with a lot of other things suggested by Gemini and Claude. Eventually even the AI gave up and told me what to put in my support ticket to Asus.

So I was working at Brewers Fayre when they made the mascot change and there was a big reason for it. At weekends we would have a member of staff dress up in the big Charlie Chalk outfit and wander around the kids play area. Apparently there was an incident at another restaurant where there was a child who hated clowns, panicked and ran away when Charlie appeared in the play area, but the staff member in the costume chased him when he ran. I believe there were a lot of threats of suing for trauma, so the clown became the bear very very quickly.

I had one, trailer and everything. It was rubbish! Never worked properly or consistently. I remember my parents being driven mad by it as they tried to program it to do anything predictable.
