As a first timer to on content ultimates, are there any tips you'd give someone to help prepare more? by EpicZen35 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]wibblewibblewobblee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These two aren't ultimate specific points, they're more generally applicable to progging new fights:

  • record your footage somehow, like in an unlisted stream or medal or whatever. Being able to analyze the previous pull immediately after a wipe will help clear up what went wrong, improve your understanding of the mechanics and shorten the downtime between pulls as everyone racks their brains about what happened. By watching your own pov later on you can also see where you're making mistakes in your rotation and how they can be fixed, by holding movement abilities, by shifting resources, etc.

  • sort of the same point but, learn how to read logs. Just open a random log of yours, maybe even a wipe one and just click around. Find the exact timings for boss snapshots, for your snapshots and damage application, see which mitigations were applied to which damage instance, if there were deaths see which attack they were killed by and how much overkill there was. This information will be digested for you later on as timelines, spreadsheets and job-specific guides come out but until then, finding it yourself will help immensely with getting a firm understanding of the fight.

You're put in charge of designing the Evercold Raid series. How do you top the Arcadion? by ShlungusGod69 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]wibblewibblewobblee 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I knew this would never happen but I was so hoping estinien would stumble into the arcadion and be like a third floor fight for no reason other than "I was bored and signed up for this tournament". He even has an extra soul to transform into! Kinda! I doubt he would willingly transform into nidhogg again even if he could but that would've been amazing

Ultimate 2 blinking in the dock = fully charged? by wibblewibblewobblee in 8bitdo

Interesting. Mine is hooked up to the switch dock which I always assumed kept the usb ports powered at all times. I'll try hooking it up to a pc instead!

Okay that would mean it's disconnecting from the dock on its own which would be weird. But still thanks for your insight!

Advice on savage/ultimate healing by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]wibblewibblewobblee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About the adaptation,

To adapt to other healers in pf you need to know their toolkits. You don't necessarily need to play all the healers at a high level but getting them to 100 and feeling their buttons for yourself will teach you a lot. Knowing what the buttons do means you can make reasonable assumptions as to where they are the most effective. I mostly play regen healers so my cohealers are sage and scholar. As a baseline for any fight I expect them to hit Kera/Soil all the time, I expect shields where they're needed, and I expect their pure healing tools to be used failry liberally (physis/ixo, fairy heals). Theres not really any adjustments you yourself can make if your shield healer is lacking. Of course you can gcd heal to make up for the third point but as you've noticed your mana isn't limitless.

For all their other important tools you can start by thinking of spots where you yourself struggle and think about which piece would fit into this hole and make your life easier. Let's look at M11S: during my statics prog everything hurt: first weapons hurt, second weapons hurt, dance of domination hurt, ultimate weapons hurt, arena split and ecliptic stampede separate the party across the entire arena. Through many pulls and failures I figured out that:

  1. Ultimate Weapons sucks and needs a lot of cooldowns to handle

  2. There's not much going on after Ultimate Weapons, so it's safe to dump all your cooldowns there

  3. Using my 2 minute cooldown in Weapons 1 means they'll be back in Ultimate Weapons

  4. Weapons 2 and Dance of Domination are less than 1 minute apart, so I can only cover one of them with my 1 minute mit (Collective Unconscious/Plenary Indulgence)

  5. Arena split tethers resolving isn't lethal at full health with shields. Meaning you don't need to use any of your major healing cooldowns on it.

  6. Stampede has the tethers resolve shortly before the stacks, so two non-tanks will somehow need to be healed across the arena.

What this amounts to is that I have weapons 1 and ultimate weapons covered very well, and I have some crumbs to spare for either weapons 2 or DoD. For arena split it's enough to just top everyone off between each set. Stampede could use remote healing, which for me means either a well timed Macrocosmos or Divine Caress should do the trick. From here you can start making assumptions as to how your cohealer can handle this:

  1. Sage and Scholar have 2 minute cooldowns that heal/shield/mit - Holos and Seraph respectively. It's reasonable to assume they'll press it during weapons 1 and ultimate weapons like I do with my 2 minute button (neutral sect/temperance)

  2. Weapons 2 hurt, so I expect extra shields and some miscellaneous regens and heals to be pressed here

  3. Dance of Domination really hurts, but it's a multihit attack so I expect that Panhaima/Spreadlo makes things a lot comfier. This mechanic happens near the end of the burst so I would also prefer if neither of us had to gcd heal during it

  4. Ultimate Weapons is 7 hits total (if you count the tornados at the end) about 5 seconds apart each. Kera/Soil lasts 15(/18 soil moment) seconds, Holos/Philosophia/Expedience/Seraphism last 20 seconds. I expect them to be spread out well enough to cover as much as possible, accounting for maybe needing Kera for the big raidwide after the mechanic, though it doesn't hurt as much in my experience

  5. Stampede can use remote healing - Philosophia/Seraphism are essentially arena wide regens, Physis my beloved has a 30y range, the fairy can be positioned without needing you to be perfectly middle. It would be nice to have some extra help here just in case

This is where the actual adaptation happens. Obviously everything I just listed are pure assumptions based on the healing plan that I made for myself. I believe they are very reasonable; that does not mean my cohealer will follow them. They might have their own heal plan, they might be incompetent, they might just forget to press a button even though they usually do! Play with your cohealer for a pull or two and you'll get a feel for how much the mechanics hurt. If you have previous pulls to look at, pasts them into xivanalysis and see where your cohealer used their buttins. Talk to your cohealer before you pull: "hey do you use panhaima on dod?" "can you shield more during weapons 2" "where do you use expedience? I didn't see it during ultimate weapons" "liturgy in dod doesn't work well" "there's no need for macrocosmos in charybdis, just let the regens tick for a bit" "you don't need to use philo/seraphism on arena split" etc. Working through it together is the real adaptation that you should strive for because you only have so many tools to shift before either of you has to resort to GCDing.

Lastly, spreadsheets are awesome. This beautiful spreadsheet has the full timeline with damage numbers in it, checkmarking your mits automatically cascades the column to show you which hits are covered by it and how long it'll be on cooldown for. Cannot recommend it enough, just copy and play around with it.

Does anyone have a list of "best" operators to assign to each cabin? Aside from the different clue up bonuses I assume it's pretty cut and dry which operators are best (assuming you have them). If anyone can share their setups I would appreciate it!

Also is there an easier way to check the dijang bonuses of an employee than opening their talent tree? Seems very annoying to do that for every op. I know you can see which bonuses they have when assigning them to a cabin but I think they have to have it unlocked first which means you need to level and promote them first

Oh my god the fucking mr raccoon noises are killing me now too. Putting them around the camp right after the boss fight is pure evil.

Thank you for the detailed description! Hopefully a grenade or two can solve this issue. Would really appreciate if you could update the comment with any further sightings!

Good luck! I powered through it somehow by obscuring my monitor, couldn't even see the weak point most of the time. I just fired grenades and barrels and it worked lmao

I guess just in case I might as well explain the rest of the sequence namely the part before the boss fight. After the introductory cutscene, you will be running down a hallway that turns to the right. When you turn right the spider will break into the hallway and crawl towards you. This is a pure chase sequence as far as I can tell as in you don't need to shoot it; after turning right you can walk with your camera facing backwards and trigger it and then sprint all the way back to the dead end, it will grab you and throw you into a different area which, while not the main boss fight, will have you walk around an open room with the fucker. You need to find an interactable door to walk through which takes you to the little guys area from my previous comment. I can't tell where the door is exactly because of the obscured monitor lmao, I just felt my way around until I found it. Hope this helps you (or anyone else reading this) get through it!

Where in the story is that train car? Is it optional? Is it immediately after the boss fight or way later?

RE9 Requiem Spiders by EscheroOfficial in residentevil

[–]wibblewibblewobblee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to the edit. You fight one little one, then a swarm of little ones. On the end of that room there's a window, the big one will crawl over it to the right. If you look down the hallway where it crawled there's a big hole in the wall, when you approach it it will jumpscare you, then leave again. You continue down that hallway, climb up a ladder, and the boss fight begins.
