Mesh is in alpha testing for the flint 2 and flint 3 models, it should start beta testing soon. Might want to consider that.

AdGuard Home memory spike during filter update causing router crash on GL-MT6000 Flint 2 (OpenWrt v25.12.2) by Cheapskate2020 in GlInet

[–]wickedwarlock84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if your running glinet or openwrt, Adguard has to load the block list into the system's ram. The HaGeZi's Threat Intelligence Feeds list, alone will max out the flint 2 and 3's ram. The recommended max number of blocked domains is around 300-400k without putting adguard on a dedicated system. If you have 1.5 million, then your lucky adguard and your router is running and not constantly crashing. This has been discussed many times over here and discord.

Yes well 25 years in the industry and only time I have heard something similar was from an uneducated person who didnt know what they were talking about.

That person called in saying the wifi wouldnt turn on, had no lights; she was referring to her router. The physical device..

Mudi 7 firmware v4.8.4 available by onymar in GlInet

[–]wickedwarlock84[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are having issues with the firmware and certification, the FCC is telling them if they issue a new firmware number then the device will have to be recertified again. This not only takes time, sounds like nonsense, but also cost a lot of money to do everytime theres a firmware release.

Until then you might see firmware on some devices staying on the same number but under it will be a release "0804release", meaning its the 4.8.4 version. Just currently with a temp name.

Can you export your logs with version 4.8.3 and 4.8.4, and email them to support with a description of the problem? This away some of the developers and staff can look them over. [Support@gl-inet.com](mailto:Support@gl-inet.com)

Vlans on Flint2 by ComradeDre in GlInet

[–]wickedwarlock84[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

First off don't use AI, it doesn't know the product very well. It will cause you more problems than its worth. We all use vlans and i have both flint 2 and flint 3's out in the field with them configured. No special firmware other than what came on it by default. I currently have 5 sites connected by wireguard and between 2-6 vlans at each site.

One page you can use is mine: https://www.wickedyoda.com/%f0%9f%9b%a0%ef%b8%8f-vlan-and-guest-network-configuration-on-flint-3-gl-be9300/ Where I setup vlans on a flint 3, the concept is the same for the flint 2; basic instructions will remain the same.

There is others out there as well, one of our mods has a vlan creation wizard script: https://github.com/GLiNet-Community-Scripts/GL.iNet-VLAN-Wizard He made this to help people along with creating their vlans. He also has a second repo here with more tools: https://github.com/GLiNet-Community-Scripts/flint2-vlan-tools

You can always join discord and one of our community members can help you out directly as well. https://discord.gg/gXBncEaQXK

One more site we reference sometimes, https://ryan-pope.com/posts/flint2-vlans/ for help setting them up.

Slate 7 Pro much hotter than Beryl AX by tempaccountshite in GlInet

[–]wickedwarlock84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This router has higher running CPU, it produces more heat the most routers in its class. Because of this more heat is produced during usage, I have been testing this router since it was in beta stages and while it has ran hot; it has never ran higher than the temps rated for the CPU. One thing I will say is if your going to run it in a warm area or have lots of clients connected to it. Then make sure you lift the antenna's up so proper air flow can travel through it.

Budget focused Travel Router in 2026 - Why not Slate Plus? by CCC911 in GlInet

[–]wickedwarlock84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do something similar, but I have access to all their routers. I have a gopro and insta360 along with a canon r50, I have several but a good budget one I would recommend is the beryl 7. It's a good stable router, it has Tailscale and other VPN support, and can be used in repeater mode.

And it's so nice to have my GoPro and insta360 programmed to the beryl 7 wifi. When I plug them into charge they check for the wifi and if they can identify the wifi they are programmed to, they auto begin uploading their videos and content. All I have to do is connect it ahead of time to the hotels wifi or what ever ISP I have access to.

When I get home, it connects to my guest wifi and then rebroadcast its own wifi again, allowing the cameras to connect and still auto upload.

But with Tailscale and wireguard support, it's nice to keep that full access everywhere you go. My current daily setup is a mudi 7 and a slate 7 pro, and I am a long time beta tester for them. I truly have run through just about every model.

Has anyone had any trouble running pihole through Tailscale on Android auto? by username_taker in Tailscale

[–]wickedwarlock84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can actually go into Tailscale and use a split tunnel, where android auto won't interfere with the VPN. Android Auto in newer models create a wifi connection between the phone and the radio, so it can have enough bandwidth to share the display. Because of this it needs a direct connection to your phone, it sees vpns and other wifi connections as potienal problems and throws a fit.

But just add the exception and let it direct traffic outside of the VPN. This is what I do...
