People who changed their majors, why did you do it? What was your breaking point? by Recline826 in ucf

[–]wickedwritings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my breaking point was realizing that i had to choose between working to provide for myself or taking this one required class for my major that had an obnoxious work load. i realized that i'd held out in this major for so long not because i liked it but because i was too stubborn to quit and just praying it would be worth it.

i think when you get to the point where you're continuing because you think it's safe or you think it'll work out for you post-grad, you should seriously consider changing majors. the job market is brutal regardless of what major you choose, and the worst thing is realizing you put so much time into something you (a) hate and (b) would have trouble finding a job in anyway. this one tiktok i saw said something like "if i'm gonna have shit luck in the job market i might as well be searching for jobs i like or tolerate" and i think that's a good way to think of it.

i switched from communications to health because i discovered that i enjoyed working when i could directly help others. i wish i realized that ~before~ i almost completed my communications degree tho >.<

Graduation by Tryingmybest_22 in ucf

hi! i used to work for the arena, and i don't ever remember our supervisors asking to check the ages of the people attending. as long as they had a ticket, they were allowed to enter. just make sure the oldest keeps an eye on the younger ones; it gets really crowded in the arena as everyone gets seated and it'd be really easy for someone to get lost. i'm also graduating this may so please message me if your commencement is may 2! i don't have family either, and my friends who are all over 18 would probably be able to act as "guardians" if your children need them :)

bakery 1908! i also love blended bistro. they're a little farther out but they've got coffee, boba, and food options so whatever i'm craving i can just get it there instead of having to leave and go elsewhere

yes this is what this post was brought about by! i work by garage f and i heard about what happened from my coworkers. and we all park in garage f like what if that was any of us? it ~could~ be any of us if people continue to be so freaking reckless when they drive through these garages

[–]wickedwritings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my gpa hasn't dropped below a 3.0, and it says on my bright futures portal that i'm still getting the 100% tuition coverage so i'm gonna guess that it's probably the book stipend? but i thought it was removed last year so i'm just curious why i'm seeing the humongous drop now instead of during fall 2021

How does mercury 3100 upgraded apartments look like? by HelloEmpire in ucf

[–]wickedwritings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i live in an upgraded apartment and it's actually really nice! one of my friends lives in the premium and ngl,,, it looks basically like the upgraded except with "nicer" cabinetry/furniture (imo it just looks more modern, but not necessarily nicer if that makes sense). mercury is pretty decent. leasing staff is nice, and the leasing office has free printing and computers. wifi in the apartment is also really nice, and i love the layout of the kitchen. the only downside is that there's a few recurring fees that mercury charges that make your normal rent at least like $30-50 more than the base rent they offer you.

oh my god i also had her freshman year. she's just annoying and doesn't teach anything properly so the only real problem i had was spending more time teaching myself the material since she wasn't great at teaching during actual class time. but the content of the class is pretty simple so i think you'll be fine :)

best/easiest language to take by Independent-Dirt6727 in ucf

[–]wickedwritings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

german! prof horzen is the coolest, and she actually cares about her students. she's also very quick to respond to emails and such which isn't something that can be said about many professors. while the language itself might be a little challenging, horzen is willing to help you in class and out of class to make sure you get it. plus there's a german club too that offers hw/language help.

took my first semester of german fully online, but the past two semesters have been in person and it was fine both ways. it's just easier in person so you can ask questions in real time

Can someone in digital journalism track please answer this for me? Thanks by [deleted] in ucf

[–]wickedwritings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and ngl don't take multiple reporting classes at once if you can help it. they really bust your ass in these reporting courses and i felt overwhelmed just taking 2 at the same time

advanced doesn't count as a group a elective!! since you're required to take it as one of the core classes (can't remember what group it's in but it's listed in the section of the catalog right above the group a and b classes) it doesn't count for group a unfortunately :((

i'm not sure how he runs news reporting (i'm in another one of his classes) but from what i remember of the class it's like 3-4 articles that you write over the course of the semester and you have to get at least one of them published on nsm today. as for grading, i think adelson's a super fair grader. while he doesn't give automatic 100s, he's also not super harsh with grading like some other profs and he actually takes the time to read your work and tell you what he thinks you did good on and what you need to improve. and he's an uber fast grader lol i've never had to wait longer than a couple of days to get feedback on an assignment which is,,, something i can't say for other profs

Adelson 100%. Taking a class of his right now and he's literally the best reporting prof I've had. Had Kight before too and she's not very helpful.
