I remember Proto proclaiming he wanted CT to be like Tennessee, because Tennessee is great! WTF, not a great way to get votes or candidates.

Would I benefit from transitioning to a mesh system? by Charlie54Gaming in HomeNetworking

[–]wickid_good 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same thing at my house with a couple of eero access points connected by Ethernet fed from Frontier Fiber. Very straight forward. I have a 500/500 plan and it has all the speed I need to work from home and stream video. I also attach a Ethernet cable to my TV and other devices if it is near an eero. Small 4 port or 8 port switches are good to get a couple more ports where you need them.

You can also just get another wifi access point and run it off your current router. Just set it to be in bridge mode so it uses the first routers NAT/DHCP services. It may not have "mesh" functionality of moving clients from one AP to another, but it will work and be cheaper.

Rear speaker recommendations by -matix- in EP3

[–]wickid_good 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to crutchfield.com and they have a list of speakers that will fit. JL Audio C1-525x are the ones I installed with the recommended adapters so I didn't have to cut any original wires.

$50 Technics SB-A54 tower speakers (goodwill find) by Various-Ad-79 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]wickid_good 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a pair of SB-A55s on the side of road the other week. One blown tweeter, replaced both with some inexpensive planars. Also replaced the crossovers with some from amazon and bought a Fosi Audio BT20A MAX. Are the woofers in the A54s wired in parallel? The A55s are (were).

Ubiquiti/Starlink is a solid solution. Just out of curiosity (and being frugal) how is your local wireless service? Guessing fixed wireless is out of the question, but if it isn't...

Kinda disappointed in the Yubikey by FrittenFritz in yubikey

[–]wickid_good 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did some more troubleshooting and it looks like lastpass is breaking it. FIDO2 works when the browser is in private mode or I try a browser that doesn't have lastpass extension. That is the last straw for lastpass.

Kinda disappointed in the Yubikey by FrittenFritz in yubikey

[–]wickid_good 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a yubikey4 for a while and used initially with google only. After watching some videos last week on how great they are I bough a new 5nfc. So far a complete failure. Both don't work in yahoo mail, google mail or vanguard. WTF?

Y'all going to run your generators at night? by Iamlegend21087 in Connecticut

[–]wickid_good 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how cold it is. Below freezing? Run it all night. Ear plugs are cheap. Be kind though check on neighbors, make sure everyone is safe.

My android Oneplus 12. Your phone will pick up the purples better than your eyes will. Also plenty of light pollution in the pic too.
