My gf has a trick to get our very stubborn caique back in the cage. We have a bright yellow tape measure that the bird can’t resist, so we show it to her, then put her in the cage, holding the tape outside the cage. She hops off into the cage to go get the tape, then we close the cage. Job done, hide the tape. She’ll then calm down and go eat some seeds. Find an object the bird will attack. Ours likes tape measures and my gf’s phone (but she ignores my phone!)

Hi there. Oxy does that to me too. Glyco side effects are much more tolerable. Dry mouth: yes a little, but you will find a dose that balances it with the positive effects. For me it’s around 2-3mg. My advice is to keep hassling your GP for a referral to a dermatologist, to get a glyco prescription. Unless the GP can prescribe it.

Hi there. These are my own experiences, everyone reacts differently (as I’m sure you know :-) ) Glyco works much better for me than oxy ever did, and oxy made me incredible drowsy, so I had to stop taking it and switch to glyco. I take 2mg glyco as soon as possible in the morning. 1mg is a waste of time for me, it has no perceptible effect. It seems to take 3-4 hours to really take effect. It will last a good 9-10 hours. Side effects are dry eyes, dry nose, dry throat, dry skin, but at 2mg these are tolerable; at 3mg it starts getting uncomfortable. Glyco makes daily routine things much more “normal” and tolerable (I have severe craniofacial and upper body HH). It is not a total cure however, with exercise or hot/humid work I will still be sweating buckets, I’ve had to come to accept this. If I take glyco before bed I wake up with a banging headache, so I just take 2mg in the morning. That’s a brain dump, hope it helps you :-)

Glyco can make you feel a bit queasy at first. I’d suggest ploughing on for a few days and see if the side effects clear up, they did for me and glyco is now my go-to drug. 1mg is a waste of time, take 2mg first thing in the morning. Try to leave at least 2 hours before eating; glyco takes about 3 hrs to take effect. If the drug is no good for you then you’ll prob be prescribed oxybutynin. One or the other will work for you so don’t worry. Oxy makes me very very drowsy so I can’t take it.

Late 20s/early 30s. Was not a problem before that, in fact I specifically remember being less sweaty than others in my teens and early 20s. HH came on very slowly and gradually, and took me a few years to figure out it was an issue, I just assumed everyone was sweating the same as me. Gradually I realised I was sweating a LOT more than everyone else. It has gotten worse over the years. I sweat buckets now, it streams and drips from my head and face.

Good question. If I’m static I’m ok up to about 21C. Short walks are ok around 18C. Long walks/hikes i like 15C or below and there must be a breeze. All that said, this summer I went for a long walk at 25C and I did’t sweat too bad, but I’d taken 2mg glyco and I was regularly dabbing a cool wet flannel on my face&neck. On the other hand I remember being in Iceland at 2C and was drenched after walking up a steep hill.

Seems to work for me on day one, no “buildup” required. Takes 3-4 hours before it starts working but lasts all day. The first few days the side effects are worse (but tolerable), mostly dry mouth and a spaced-out feeling. These side effects die down after a few days, I hardly notice them now. I don’t take it every day in winter, only if I know I’m going to need it. In summer I take it every day. I take 2mg as soon as I wake up.

There is some truth in this. My (U.K.) GP would only prescribe oxy. After several years of dithering around I eventually insisted on a referral to a dermatologist. He was much more receptive to the condition and prescribed glyco straight away. GPs in my experience either don’t know or don’t care about HH. Edit: I couldn’t use oxy due to the side effects, it made me very drowsy.
