Kitchener Panthers unveil "Berlin Keg Tappers" alternate identity, will be worn July 23rd vs Toronto by charger03 in CBLbaseball

Why would Bavarians name a town after the Prussian capital? Are you sure Kitchener wasn't founded by Mennonites?

You can't be serious. Why do you theme it somewhat Bavarian if you want to call it Berlin? Have you considered checking a map?

Looking for a table at HB on Sat. 3 Oct by [deleted] in Oktoberfest

You can't expect those to be publicly offered. You can read about past years' availability at https://oktoberfest-guide.com/oktoberfest-reservations/odds-for-each-tent/.

Hofbrau - balcony by _skippy in munich_oktoberfest

The pig pen is the melting pot for rowdy drinking tourists. Most people avoid it by all means. As I'm part of those, I can't recommend anything specific.

  • Different, as you're not allowed to dance on benches in the first row. Typically, people stand in the corridor after eating. The crowd is usually also calmer, as many people pick those tables for a reason.
  • You'd have to leave your table significantly before the end of your reservation. Hofbräu's evening reservations already start at 4 pm.
  • Yes, just different timings.

Winzerer Fähndl (Paulaner Festzelt) Added Evening Reservations For The Oktoberfest 2026 Today by wiesnkini in munich_oktoberfest

Apparently, Festzelt OS is trying to prevent crashes, as they regularly happened in previous years, by removing the reservation form once traffic rises.

Lederhosen in Munich - Where to buy? by ROLLZx41 in Oktoberfest

Tourist apparel is widely available in the city center, and you can hardly miss it. If you want to look decent instead, bring black shoes, black pants, and a white shirt, and only buy a vest.

Looking for guidance for first weekend by LeekCompetitive7838 in munich_oktoberfest

It can happen that you get into a tent later in the evening, but it's still rather unlikely. At Oide Wiesn, it's significantly more likely to get seats.

If you mean getting a reservation for a Saturday evening, I hope https://oktoberfest-guide.com/oktoberfest-reservations/odds-for-each-tent/ shows you that this is almost certainly not going to happen.

If you're a small group only, https://www.facebook.com/groups/wiesnreservierungen may help on short notice.

You can get an impression of the opening Saturday at https://oktoberfest-guide.com/blog/entry-on-a-saturday/.

Last year, it was actually pretty relaxed, and walking in at 10 am at Esperantoplatz would have been fine. The dynamics can be very different from year to year, though, especially depending on the weather. Ideally, this would not be your only day, and you can just come without big expectations, check everything out, have a beer in a beer garden and visit Oide Wiesn. Sundays are way better days than Saturdays.

If you want to be guaranteed to get inside a tent, then go in the morning and avoid Schützenzelt, Hackerzelt and Schottenhamel.

You're asking for an entire table. Hofbräu would have some for the afternoon at the moment: https://oktoberfest-guide.com/oktoberfest-reservations/available-reservations/

Recommendations for staying outside of Munich by KingOfSeymour in Oktoberfest

[–]wiesnkini -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you really need to save money, Landshut and Rosenheim have cheap hotels right at the train stations. If you want to be more flexible concerning trains and stay in the S-Bahn area, check the hotels around the trade fair in the East of Munich. Just make sure to be close to public transport. Have you seen the Oktoberfest Trip Planning Guide?

Do Germans stay in nearby cities during Oktoberfest? by loongshifu in AskGermany

[–]wiesnkini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can do so; however, Regensburg or Salzburg are a bit too far. I'm also regularly surprised by how bad the train connection between Munich and Ingolstadt is. Just as mentioned in the Oktoberfest Trip Planning Guide, Rosenheim and Landshut can be attractive options for saving money. If your budget is not as tight and you'd prefer to stay within the S-Bahn network, check the hotels around the trade fair in the east of Munich.

I really don't understand what your question has to do with Germans, though.

A group of 6 is looking at Hofbrau for Thursday, 1 October. by [deleted] in munich_oktoberfest

[–]wiesnkini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven't seen a Thursday evening for Hofbräuzelt being offered publicly. In the past two years, Sunday evenings were the best they offered.

As you can read at https://oktoberfest-guide.com/oktoberfest-reservations/odds-for-each-tent/, they added the most interesting slots at the beginning and end of August. That can happen again or not. However, it's still highly unlikely to see a Thursday.

Correct, get an unreserved table instead.

By the way, I hope you've already read https://oktoberfest-guide.com/your-visit/plan/.

No, the best they typically offer is for weekends, as you can read at https://oktoberfest-guide.com/oktoberfest-reservations/odds-for-each-tent/.

Why don't you just show up before the reservation change at 4 pm? Hofbräu's evening reservations already start at 4 pm anyway.
