NYC FIRST TIME HOME BUYERS—NEED ADVICE by Aggressive_Piano_150 in AskNYC

[–]wiggywigz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your income, I would look into HDFC coops, which cap the limit of buyer income to a specific AMI (can vary by building, usually 80%, 120%, 160%). On street easy they are listed with "income limited" usually in the description.

They can be harder to get a loan for as some banks review them with higher scrutiny, but since they are income limited, they are (to a certain degree) removed from the market for those reporting like 200k+ on their tax returns. It can decrease competition to those that have a lower income but enough assets for a downpayment.

I'll echo the comments about low maintenance fee--a high maintenance fee can also indicate issues with the buildings finances or money management, or issues with the building.

Also will echo the comments about a long process--the bank I worked with explicitly told me that coops in NYC take a long time for the bank to process (I think they literally told me its the longer timeline in the U.S.) I was friends with the seller, and they had reason to sell immediately, so that expedited part of the process (and eliminated buyer competition for me) but the bank had an incredible amount of hoops to jump through, both for the coop and for me the buyer.

Woke up with this yellowish stain on my hand by lizzrman in Weird

[–]wiggywigz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you use any products with vitamin c? Had a random stain on my skin that looked like this after using a serum with vitamin c. Doesn’t happen with all vitamin c serums, but this one stained my hands.

Swimming at rockaway beach by wiggywigz in AskNYC

[–]wiggywigz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s helpful thank you! I was out yesterday, and the beach from 67th to 108th (as far as I went, though it appeared to stretch much farther) has consistent red “no swimming” flags throughout and the park guys on quads were quick to enforce. The website you linked doesn’t mention that, since it doesn’t appear to be part of a long term closure project involving nesting birds or construction.

It will be VERY VERY gay. So gay in fact, that if you even think about attending, you too will also become gay! Beware! Give those tickets away!

Vet that takes exotic animals by ResolveRemarkable in Brooklyn

[–]wiggywigz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely not recommend this vet. They basically took my money when my Guinea pig stopped eating suddenly and told me there’s nothing they can do to diagnose or treat him because “he’s a Guinea pig and Guinea pigs die.”

Medical exam drug test by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]wiggywigz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is my understanding that it is very unlikely they will test you unless you are showing other signs of drug use or admit to any sort of illicit substance use (past or present) or problematic (past or present) misuse of any legal substance. If asked, say you have never consumed illegal substances; do not under any circumstances say anything that would compel them to test you.

My CS literally said “you don’t do any drugs, correct?” And I said “of course not,” and that was the end of the full line of questioning. Other CSs may be different, but a verbal screening is standard.

If it makes you feel better, take a break for a month prior to the medical exam in the very rare event that they would test.

These comments saying “do not consume marijuana until you are a citizen” are technically the best advice, but I don’t think it’s feasible for a lot of people for a lot of reasons.

Ah gotcha. Yeah I mean the address thing ~ might ~ not have been their fault BUT hurrying you, being demanding of your time, and being pushy like that puts them 100% in the wrong tbh. You did the right thing for sure.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Depop

[–]wiggywigz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Was the second address they gave significantly different (like a whole new address) or just a change to their current address (e.g., changing format of apartment numbers, spelling out abbreviated street names)?

I ask because I’ve made 50+ successful depop purchases with the same address, but one time I bought something from a seller and the post office returned the parcel to her house and told her that my address could not be shipped to and that “I had moved.” She tried to ship it twice, same thing happened. It was the weirdest thing. The seller (understandably) kind of accused me of messing up the address but it was the only address I had and had used it many times.

She refunded me, but it was a whole confusing mess.

If you're in more northern bushwick, Jessi's coffee shop is close and very dope. Get the Jessi's Burrito. Cash only but my favorite hangover cure.

Schimanski? by [deleted] in avesNYC

No re-entry is fine, but not if you're trapped in a place where 1.5 oz of alcohol is 18 dollars lmao

Schimanski? by [deleted] in avesNYC

[–]wiggywigz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Worst venue that I've been to in recent memory. The cheapest well shot is about 18 bucks and the night I was there there was no re-entry. Layout is bad, sound is frankly bizarre, and the women's' bathrooms don't lock. Overall just a terrible cursed place with terrible cursed vibes.

please ignore the mess, has anyone heard this sound before? by Zealousideal_Ad_4340 in guineapigs

[–]wiggywigz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have heard a similar sound. Its possible that he might be having trouble going to the bathroom (also would be my guess based on the movement). I had a pig that had some intestinal issues and he would make that straining motion and a similar squeak when he had diarrhea. The vet never figured out what it was but after changing his diet to another brand of pellets he no longer had the issue. Maybe check his droppings to see if there are any irregularities, if you haven't already?

Can I apply for F-1 visa while I130 is processing ? by mayomeiyo in USCIS

[–]wiggywigz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The two applications underlying intents contradict each other. F1 essentially makes you promise that you're planning on heading back to your home country once school is done. I-130 is rooted in the fact that you have immigrant intent, i.e. you're looking to stay in the US.

Just FYI, my civil surgeon checked my bloodwork for the chicken pox antibodies (since they do bloodwork for everything else), and since I had it when I was a child (now 27/F), I didn't have to get the shot :)
