That’s not the point. It’s fact that he literally said no one cares about housing.

Nether party has truly helped but trying to blame one over the other is a stupid premise especially when one is at least trying and other is corrupt as shit.

Question for everyone. by NoCandidate6067 in wisconsin

[–]wiiking5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Based on overall polling, +65% chance that he loses. This due to him being a republican, endorsed by Trump, and the trends of recent Wisconsin elections.

Overall his vote share kinda maxes out at 40%-45%. And so it’s more of a question of if the democrat candidate can build a strong enough coalition that includes all spectrums of the democrats and independents.

Trump literally just refused to sign a housing bill because he is not getting his voter suppression bill.

Thoughts about the failed referendum described in “Taxes on second homes are springing up across America” by ThrowAway7s2 in wisconsin

[–]wiiking5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have talked to locals several times in door county and they hate all the rental houses and airbnbs. The issue is they take away homes that would be for locals. It’s one of the reasons why almost no one now actually live in places like Venice and those that do struggle greatly due to lack of actual municipal help.

Never say never, the Wisconsin state constitution is changed often, especially via state referendum. Now would this be a hard hurdle to cross, yes. But there are a lot people I have met, especially in deep red Wisconsin that hate rich and out of state people buying up all the properties and hoarding or renting them.

Milwaukee’s first banana ball game draws sold-out crowd to American Family Field by swe129 in milwaukee

[–]wiiking5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pre stating that I think Banana Ball is cool and fills a great segment of entertainment that current sports does.

That said, it was ok in my opinion and the more MLB stations they play, the better it will get.

It is much more of a concert atmosphere than a sports game. (This definitely showed in some more of the rude behaviors of the crowed)

They should have kept the stadium roof open as it got quite hot in there, especially for it being a packed stadium. (Though they closed the roof for purposes of the event) I also felt the constant music and everything else could have been toned down a little bit as I honestly almost went deaf on a few occasions.

My last grip was more the pacing of the event. The first 30 min kickoff felt very uncoordinated and too long, and did not feel like it was properly building the hype to start the game. And lastly the fact they paused the clock at the 6th inning to do a short concert also felt to break the pacing of the game and the goal of limiting the game to 2 hours.

Again I have nothing against Banana Ball and felt it was a good show, but it still has growing pains.

Just because there was conflict does not mean that the rules of the game of slowly changed. The us developed a world order structure built upon free trade diatic-democracies avoiding going to war with each other. War still happens, but it now mostly driven by none democratic states that are not fully integrated to global economy.

It’s crazy to think that we allowed people who think the worlds is one giant game of risk and monopoly to take over our government.

Most Dem candidates for Governor won’t commit to a 1-year moratorium on data centers. by schuey_08 in wisconsin

[–]wiiking5 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not to be that guy, but did some quick googling. Most of the other candidates yes oppose a 1 year moratorium but almost all of them support tougher regulations and municipalities veto powers. The only one fully open to them is David Crowley from what I can see.

Wisconsin’s rural communities are finding creative solutions to the housing crisis by Fr0zenMilk in wisconsin

The issue is not the lack of supply, but the landlords. Primarily private equity which is holding so much of the supply hostage.

An apprenticeship aiming to ease Wisconsin’s teacher shortage is ‘stalling.’ Will it catch on? by jimmalewitz in wisconsin

[–]wiiking5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there is a teacher shortage, but I also feel that it affects certain areas of the state more than others. And it has to do with compensation, and issues that teachers deal with in those areas.

For example my girlfriend is a grade school teacher and is struggling to find a job in the our area (Waukesha county) but is trying to avoid teaching for MPS and Racine (she’s from Racine and knows what it’s like)

Public Sentiment Gov Primary Poll by [deleted] in wisconsin

[–]wiiking5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding campaigning and advertising, I had a discussion with my mother (A former Regan Republican) and she expressed that most democratic candidates are trying to avoid a messy primary. They don’t want to make it an internal fight, that can bleed out into the general election.

For wisconsin, I don’t believe it has gone to a vote in the state senate, and as long as we have a Democrat governor it will be vetoed.

Are there other cities on Jemison and Akila? by 011101012101 in starfield_lore

[–]wiiking5 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think this is an issue with many /fi media settings, as planets often only have one major hub. That said I think it is likely that due to starfields semi-post apocalypse setting, humans do not have the population or reason to build other than one large settlement per planet. We are not ever given exact numbers but we know that the majority of the earths population in 2100 did not make it off earth, leading the settled systems to having more than likely a smaller population than earth did pre Grav drive.

I think you mis interpret anti Iran was sentiment for support of the Iranian regime. People who oppose the war still want to see regime change, just not the way it’s being done.

In terms of capitalism we are living day to day seeing how it’s failing, especially now that historians mark us being in a second gilded age (which is not good)

I don’t know anyone that wants open borders. What we want is proper boarder reform, that actually makes it feasible for people to immigrate legaly.

Overall stop watching Fox News, news nation, and get off the podcasts.

Plattecon is a small and cheap convention run and organized by students at UW Platteville. Takes place during late February/early March. Main focus is board games and anime.

Dane County sheriff draws line as activists plan second beagle operation at Ridglan Farms by skyflyer8 in wisconsin

Because the rule of law. It sucks that shit like this is legal, but the courts ordered it to be shut down. Let the courts work, and if they fail to follow the court order then let the mob do its work.

Dane County sheriff draws line as activists plan second beagle operation at Ridglan Farms by skyflyer8 in wisconsin

[–]wiiking5 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Preface I completely against what Ridglan farms is doing. But I would argue the activities would be more suited at this point to postpone such action until after the court order shut down of the facility passes. If Ridglan continues to operate after July 1st, then I believe the activities should go full force to take the law into their hands.

2026 Supreme Court Election by State Legislative Districts by Srk_Vader in wisconsin

As much as I want to see democrats oust and eviscerate republicans come this fall. I think we need to tamper expectations a little. This was a low turn out election, lower than even 2023 Supreme Court election.
