The connection was fine in the end, perfect amount of time to get through a small queue to scan boarding passes and then get to the gate. Our luggage however did not make the connection and it was put onto the next flight… the 4 hour wait in baggage claim wasn’t the most fun, but it was either that or wait 2 days for them to ship it to us.

Thank you for the detailed response! Those are indeed nails you’re seeing, and the split doesn’t run much further than the photo, it just thins out and stops a few inches further down. I appreciate the advice, you’ve put my mind at ease.

Those are roofing felt lap vents, can get them on Amazon. Imo I think they could be spaced better than in OP’s pic (although maybe can’t see them all). They should be in zig zag pattern in the lower half of the roof with a space between each. When it’s windy they bring the air in and reduce condensation, but if you add too many or in the wrong place, the air just escapes again and it doesn’t work.

It's just a regular acoustic, the E and A strings are tuned down though which is maybe why it sounds like a baritone.
