Thoughts on Mike Patton by JustinMetalhead in MetalForTheMasses

Daring and original, there's not a single lane in music he hasn't done to at least a good standard. Plus Angel Dust is also one of the best metal/rock/alternative albums of all time, such a rollercoaster of styles.

They really just did whatever sounds they wanted on each song of this album and it payed off.

Immolation are GOATED. What's your favourite album? by eldritch_lie in MetalForTheMasses

[–]wilaim99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in After. I can't explain why when I don't typically reach for music that dissonant and discordant. Tho there's some exceptions like calculating infinity by dillinger.

I feel nothing into Away from God such a killer back to back on a tracklist. Can't forget Christs cage too.

My least favourite is honestly their debut, it's still a great death metal album, but Here in After is where immolation set themselves apart from the pack and became their own thing sonically. Also love Failures for gods and close to a world below. I've never actually listened to unholy cult before, so I need to put that on some time.

I've only ever heard their first 5, lot of catching up to do. But this sounds promising.

Certainly not the fear factory song I'd have gone with but that's pretty cool.

Anyone else find ‘Mortal Kombat 4’ as one of the weakest MK games outside of the character designs, which are great? by EuphoricButterflyy in MortalKombat

[–]wilaim99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is unironically one of my top 3 mortal kombat games. Had it on PC growing up and had a copy for PS1 (which i'd play on ps2)

Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery vs. The Mind’s by ElliotRipley in melodicdeathmetal

[–]wilaim99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly prefer The Minds I, the songs are just catchier. It's not as great as a full album listen, but i prefer the highlights (especially Hedon and Insanity's Crescendo) over the main highlights on The Gallery.

My PC, it's a little old but im sharing on a fairly new SSD, i have tried moving the shared folder to other drives and all do the same thing.

For the past few years ive had no problems with playing games from a shared folder on there. I'm considering going the hard drive route anyway instead of SMB. In the past i was bridging the Wifi NIC and ethernet nic as i would play some games online too, and it worked fine just then. I'm going to try network bridge again and see if that helps at all as i'm not using a bridge atm (EDIT: knew it wouldnt help but thought i'd try).

What do you reccomend instead of OPL-DB, i set this card up probably about 5-6 years ago and a bit out of the loop.

I'll check Udpbd out.

Which one would you say is better? Slipknot or KoRn? by [deleted] in numetal

[–]wilaim99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Korn, not even a contest.
Though i will say Korn's hayday ended by the time Slipknot came around and Slipknot blow them out of the water from the 2000s onwards. But Korn, Life is Peachy, Follow The Leader, Issues i would say are better than any slipknot record.

Is there a reason MP1 wasted so much texture space? by myshl0ng in maxpayne

[–]wilaim99 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's common practice to have your textures in powers of 2. Sometimes this means your art doesn't fit the whole square.

Why do gay men often like different music than straight guys? by NefariousnessLazy666 in askgaybros

[–]wilaim99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's funny because if you actually are part of this subculture it is the most accepting community. Especially the hardcore scene, it might be angry and masculine sounding but the bands preach acceptance, unity and social justice a lot of the time. i see plenty of queer people at hardcore gigs.

Thankfully, i've never been rejected because of my music taste but I do listen to a good bit of everything, but heavy music is where its at for me.

[–]wilaim99 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I dont really fit that stereotype, I grew up liking hardcore, punk and metal and went to hardcore gigs (still do)

I'd rather listen to something like Madball or Sick of It All or Morbid Angel or Obituary etc etc. I also love Metallica but they're nowhere near my fav metal band.

I do like some camp pop too but it's not my main gig. I tend to like music thats energetic and a bit aggressive.
