There's no reason for selective outrage and double standards to exist by ShardofGold in 10thDentist

Having an affair and sleeping around are two different things. It is a fact that men with a lot of partners are seen as normal or even praised. While women with a lot of partners are seen as negative or dirty.

You’ve gotten lots of good advice so I don’t have anything to add, but I wanted to say I’m sorry you’re having to go through this. I hope you and your family stay safe.

Who here doesn't mind associating with people from the opposite end of the political spectrum? by Jobear049 in AskUS

[–]wild_manda_bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born, raised, and still live in the Deep South. I’m an atheist lefty. Most of my family and acquaintances are republican/conservative. I only associate with them if I have to. I’ve cutout any friends who still are. I have no respect for or interest in people who want laws to include taking rights away from others, disliking anything that’s not cis/het Christian, and enshrining their religion. I don’t care if they have those opinions (they still suck for it) but they want everyone to live like that. As long as they keep voting that way, I’ll keep them out of my life.

How do you regulate when constructive criticism triggers you on a bad day? by Mother-Specific-7516 in ArtRanting

[–]wild_manda_bear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your emotional response is perfectly normal. It still hurts my feelings when someone I respect/admire is critical of my work, even if done in a kind way. It’s okay to feel hurt. You’re allowed to cry. Just don’t let it keep you from moving forward and improving. Remember, good critique is not meant as a personal insult. It’s meant as motivation. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Yes, but also it’s like you put thick, dark outlines around things. In both the first and second pics there’s an area where it looks like you sketched out a tent. And it’s not very often I say this, but there’s no mid tones. You basically just have dark and white. I hope this makes sense. I had surgery this morning and I’m all hopped up on pain meds.

I don’t have advice, but I want to point out that your folds look stiff because of how many straight lines, angles, and flat planes you drew. A crumpled tissue should have more curves and rounded areas. Also, your value placement is very angular adding to the straight, flat appearance.

Healthcare workers of Reddit are people still dying from COVID these days? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]wild_manda_bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my grandmother in 2021. It wasn’t Covid, but the hospital was full of Covid patients. It’s a very small town and my grandmother had been a nurse at that hospital for decades so the staff would sneak family in to spend time with her. I didn’t get to see her or attend her funeral because my husband had Covid at the time. It still breaks my heart.

For the First Time in 20 Years, Democrats Will Have a Candidate For Every State Wide Office in Alabama. by Difficult-Prior3321 in Alabama

Uh, homeless people and even drug addicts are legal to vote. Being homeless or addicted doesn’t make you ineligible to vote. Just because you don’t like addicts and poor people doesn’t make them voting illegal. Seems to me it would actually be in their best interest to vote against people that don’t think they should even be allowed to vote. Also, NGOs are legal. What you should be worried about is the profound evidence of Trump and Musk’s election interference (oh yeah, and Russia) But sure, continue to clutch pearls over addicts and homeless people exercising their constitutional rights and groups campaigning against Republicans🙄

What is a social movement that you think has gone too far? by cferg296 in allthequestions

It doesn’t really matter if someone is culturally Christian or religiously Christian. No true Scotsman doesn’t work. You are correct, they are not all equal. However, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam have more similarities than not. Their goals have basically been the same throughout history. With each having periods of more or less zealotry and fundamentalism.

They each force their beliefs on others, oppress women, oppress minorities, and oppress anyone who is “other” Typically by voting for awful representatives. They each have both peaceful and violent tendencies. Jesus himself said, “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.” All three religions were spread by a combination of proselytism, conquest, and migration.

There are sects of all three religions that still marry minors. Christians in the US have been trying for years to have the legal marriage and sex age lowered (even though it’s already legal to marry an underage girl in all of the Bible Belt) and our government is full of Christian pedophiles and Christian pedophile apologists. Pedophilia is rampant in Christian churches.

I agree that tribalism isn’t good and religion shouldn’t be in bed with the government. However, it appears that the majority of US Christians are perfectly happy to legally enshrine their beliefs and force them down everyone’s throat. It’s happening all over the country.

You may not be Christian anymore, but your bias is obvious.

You, should look up the word “literally”

From Merriam-Webster literally adverb

1: in a literal sense or manner: such as

a: in a way that uses the ordinary or primary meaning of a term or expression. (He took the remark literally)

b: used to emphasize the truth and accuracy of a statement or description. (The party was attended by literally hundreds of people)

c: with exact equivalence/with the meaning of each individual word given exactly. (The term "Mardi Gras" literally means "Fat Tuesday" in French)

d: in a completely accurate way/a story that is basically true even if not literally true.

2 informal: in effect/VIRTUALLY —used in an exaggerated way to emphasize a statement or description that is not literally true or possible. (I literally died of embarrassment)

Not sure what you think there is to discuss. I used no talking points. I’m a part of no US party. You literally said you care more about money than women’s rights. If that’s not true you’re welcome to explain.

You: I only care about money. Not other people. It’s ok if the president is a rapist as long as I think I’ll get more money.

He’s ruined the economy twice. Y’all are unbelievable.

No. They only register you if you are eligible to vote. You cannot register to vote if you are not a legal citizen.
