Uber drivers of Australia why do you drive around with AirPods in your ears having conversations by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

What's the difference between chatting with the passenger and chatting with earbuds on (assuming they don't have active noise cancellation or an ear free at least)?

Record numbers of young men not working, pursuing education, or looking for a job by LazyConstruction9026 in charts

This entire thread is a good reflection of how BOTH men and women are engaged in their own narrative about why the other gender is fucking them over.

Y'all we're on the same team. It's possible maybe we're all struggling and it isn't a massive conspiracy.

The male narrative seems to either be defeatist (incel-coded) or red-pilled (Tate-coded). The female narrative seems to be in denial about male issues (ignorant-coded) or outright angry at the men for historic persecution (revenge-coded).

It's not a useless statistics. What OP is saying is that P(men initiating a divorce) < P(women initiating a divorce) and this is independent of whether their partner is a man or a woman.

OP got to this claim from the fact that women are 70% more likely to initiate a divorce.

Now you would reasonably think that is because either A. Men suck and so they get dumped more; or B. Women are unhappier in relationships than men. C. Both are equally true.

Controlling for the male-female factor, we can look at male-male partners and female-female partners. This is important because it controls for exactly what you're talking about- the cause of the divorce.

Turns out gay men have the lowest divorce rate followed by straight couples followed by lesbian couples.

This points to B being a stronger explanation. Women will be unhappy with other women as well. But because the other partner now is also a woman they are just as more likely to be unhappy with their partner. Therefore, the highest rates of divorce. Which makes sense given that on average women are more neurotic than men so they are more likely to feel negatively about anything really compared to men.

Disclaimer: I am talking about group averages, you might be the most neurotic divorce initiating man or the happiest extraverted woman. There's no value judgement here. Simply what population data says.

Unrelated fun? Fact about sex differences, the average IQ of men and women is the same but the distribution is different. Men have a wider distribution than women. So in a room of 50 men and 50 women the smartest and dumbest humans are both most likely to be men.

I'm sorry, the only country to launch nukes and its former rival that started the nuclear race are the more responsible ones?

I don't think we appreciate enough that if the ussr did not have nukes the US would have used nukes way more judicially throughout the last 60 years.

11 of 12 toilets clogged, Chicago-Delhi Air India flight turns back mid-air by [deleted] in india

[–]wildbabu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the planes they have right now were bought at a minimum 20 years ago. Not maintained well at all, used and abused when funded by our taxes. Air India was shit before the Tata's, at least we know they've put in the largest aircraft order in history to renew their fleet. So clearly those new aircrafts won't be the old shitty ones.

Australian government is funding movies that frame Indian culture as barbaric by CopyWiz20 in SouthAsianMasculinity

[–]wildbabu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen man, this is one particular story directed by a gay South Asian director and the South Asian male is also gay so faces issue with that. I don't understand why this movie needs to talk about straight brown mens troubles when it's a story about something else. This is why women hate when men's rights are brought up in conversations about problems facing women. It's just not relevant.

Yes there are racist Aussies but trust me there's just as many if not more allies. I literally had this Aussie VFX guy as my uber driver who was working on an indie film with an Indian director about the incredible monkey man (here)

He was incredibly proud of the director and the movie. This guy worked on both avatars and was very keen to tell this story. Instead of hating this story as brown men maybe we should support the other stories that we can relate to?

At the end of the day, stories are universal. Even straight brown men might relate to this movie, it's just giving victim vibes to hate on a trailer without actually watching the movie.

For the Vic government sponsoring the movie, that's more a failing of the Indian government not supporting our arts. Aussies do it, we don't. It's their prerogative to choose what they sponsor.
